View Full Version : German TV makes me gag
AKA: Retarded ideas for movies suck major cock
I watched the German version of Popstars today (yeah....I know.) and since it had 5 breaks á 5 minutes I couldnt prevent watching some of the commercials. And what do I have to be the witness of?
TORNADO - The new TV hit on Pro7
...a realistic two-part movie about a Tornado in Berlin.
Yeah. I'm pretty speechless.
Please tell me Germany is not the only country with the most unrealistic and stupid movie ideas ever.

wow... that truly sounds awful. however, american tv is pretty awful, too. fashion house looks horrendous.
as far as movies... I mostly only know the famous movies from germany. I like metropolis, lola rennt, goodbye lenin, and even im juli.
oh, but man... have you seen Berlin, Berlin? We watched a few episodes of that last year... majorly messed up! I've actually wanted to get my hands on a season just because it's soooo bad... haha, I'm weird.

In 1992 I started watching German TV. And my whole family loved it because it was after regime and all new and different from boring Slovak TV full of documentaries and totalitarian crap. It's where my brother and I learnt our German from. Maybe it just did seem so awesome then. And I liked German TV until the reality shows came, until Big Brother started and even the channels that seemed good got polluted with crap. Horrible crap. I haven't seen any in over a year... And I know I would not like it any more.

Speaking of German movies, has any of you seen FC Venus? It's a remake of a Finnish film that kind of sucked, and I hear it's actually good because in Germany they have a football culture that we here don't.
Either way, whatever attrocities German TV produces, Austrian TV will ultimately top. Ever watched Unser Charlie? That show makes me want to kill myself.

Yep. The monkey who always messed up a room and then someone would enter it and be like "Ach nein, Charlie!" and I'd be like "Fucking idiots, stop keeping a monkey as a pet! They're not that fucking intelligent."
And in the end of an episode Charlie would be, drop an apple and do his monkey thing and people would laugh. OMG KILL.

infact the netherlands belongs to a select few countries world wide NOT to practice dubbing. And even we do it on occassion (don't forget most children movies). And some countries just make an entire remake of the movie in their own language.

Speaking of bad movies. Reptilicus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reptilicus) from Denmark is a good example. The Danish version is the best. There is the ridiculous comedic singing in the middle. And the reason the monster escapes is because the scientists decide to go to the beach for cocktails, and they leave the door open. However, this is the last film in Denmark that is not revolting. The new philosophy of the danish film industry is to deal with seriously dramatic issues, and do it in an incredibly snobby way that makes the viewer feel like he's being dragged by his nose to a preacher.
Tigger Army

Starship Troopers was gay. End of story.
My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called "Max". To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time. When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything. And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again...

I have an obsession with LOST, yet I didnt download the second season on the net because I wanted to understand everything 100% the first time I watch it. That's just how it goes.
I also agree on Germans failing to speak foreign languages fluently. I do not exaggerate when I say that my English got WORSE after two years of English classes as a major. Gift : cadeautje,

Actually it's 'cadeau' in Dutch as well. 'Cadeautje' being the smaller version of it -> a little present. It can also be spelled as 'kado', they wanted to 'preserve' the Dutch language by writing it as such.
And like Tigger said, Dutch is a stolen language, mostly German and French and a lot of English, too.

Contact = Contact/Kontakt
Address = Adres
Bath = Bad
