It's not that I specifically want to do an MBA, it's just that it's best to keep my options open, I suppose. Besides, a good score will always help on a CV... to be frank, I've done a 3-month internship in a corporate bank this summer, so I guess I'll be more at ease if I majored in corporate finance, but we'll see, I'm such a waverer that you never can tell what I'll do next!

out of curiosity... what's an MBA?

BFAs can be useful if you know how to use it. It's rare, but I know people who got BFAs in theatre or dance but also know a lot about production and business and are making a lot of money. Also BFAs in music can land you a high paying career in a symphony orchestra. I will easily admit, though, that there's not much you can do with those and are more than likely to live in a loft eating rice every day.

it doesn't matter how you do on english papers, business and technical writing is a different issue. simplicity, clarity, repetition, and pandering to the lowest common denominator are what works in business. i know a few successful technical writers and some of them keep a list of 100 words and use only these 100 words plus domain-specific language in their works.

Still, even literary essays would be an issue for someone with such flowery language. It's okay to get a bit creative and add that hint of personality and spark to your analysis, but CLARITY is still the most important thing in the world when writing an essay of any kind, and her kind of language isn't suited to that.

This is right on. I couldn't have said it better. Nobody could ever take her writing seriously if she was writing for business, and if she's writing for english, any professor would think that she was clearly trying to show off a big vocabulary as opposed to developing strong and accurate points.

I meant understood from the perspective of discussing another person. Understood how it feels to be attacked, and then attacked again when you defend yourself. I meant you should be able to empathize with the situation, instead of criticising. Because you related it to yourself, I was asking if you can now relate it to the person we were discussing. Not a stupid question at all, if you understood it.

And by the way, I'm not agreeing that you have been unjustly attacked and only attacked others in defense. I'm only accepting that you perceive it this way, and so should be able to empathise with others.

It's also horribly unfair of you to turn against someone primarily because they are on good terms with people you don't like. Some of my friends are also friends with people I don't like. How is that in any way my concern? It's not.
