Program Question

So I'm planning on getting a keyboard and a program to create decent loops for Christmas. I've heard the SONAR effort from Cakewalk is pretty good, and am considering acquiring a Yamaha keyboard with the capability of being directly applied to a sound program, because Yamaha is generally the best. I'd like some feedback about whether this could be a better choice (aiming for version 4 or 5 of SONAR, not the 800$ version that just came out).

Thanks in advance. Figured this would fit best in Your Band, where people might actually know their stuff.

EDIT - I mean the type of capability available on the tracks I've created such as Kinspire and Looking Back at http://www.mp3.com.au/artist.asp?id=14752

Basically drums and some keyboard sounds, and the ability to loop them.

I've used Fruity Loops Studio 6 and that's pretty good... but then again I'm not using a keyboard to hook directly up to it. Though, I have used a guitar on it, and it's pretty good. The good thing about it is you can sort of edit the sound of the music you if you are able to understand how to do it (it took me a while to figure it out). I didn't buy the program, and I don't think any program like this is worth the money, unless this is what you're planning on doing for a big period of your life. I say just download it.
