I'm not sure I'm gonna buy one, maybe I should wait until I got better, I don't know, so I'm just gonna keep some money safe until I got the sum I need, likle that my parents won't have to lend me some money I'll needs months to give them back.
When will you return the the USA ?
BTW, I went it my new highschool today.
Awful, really. :( This year is gonna be terrible. I thinl there's a problem about this town. I went 6 months in a college of that town (digne les bains) and it was really really terrible.
Now, I go back there for one whole year, and it's gonna be even more horrible.
Plus I've a fuckin headache.
But stille, Peace & Hang girls

I was sure everything would go alright ;) I'm happy for you ^^ I'm sure there's somewhere in the states where you can find charcuterie, like the shop of a frenchman or I don't know but I'm sure there's a way you czn find this meat you love. Otherwise, you'll have to make it with hamburgers ^^
Let's make this complicated,
Saucisson is overrated!
(...I'm aware of how bad that joke was...)
Anyway, I'm looking forwad buying a new guitar...
I guess the question that remains is...WHY DIDN'T YOU STEAL THAT GUY'S GUITAR?! I would've:D Kidding. I am looking for a new guitar, though. Well, more like saving up for one, because I already know what I'm getting. Lately, I've been into lesser-known brands, but ones that seem to get good reviews. I've got my eye on this baby (http://store.guitarfetish.com/nexvthcubafl.html). I email the guy and they're making new designs at the end of the month, so I'll likely wait for them. The great thing about them is that they come sounding awesome already, but they're so inexpensive that it wouldn't cost you much to modify it. This company's pickups are also supposed to be great.

My my that is nice. Me wants.
I've got my eye on this (http://www.ocie.com/images_products/ibanez_gsr200fm_s7861.jpg) for Christmas. I need a bass for recording, an I trust Ibanez. It also looks pretty nice.

You 'n' me, we got somethin' in common. I'll be looking for a bass for recording, too. That one looks mighty damn fine. What's it called?
Ryder1234

It's an Ibanez GSR200FM. It's a Gio model (budget line of the good version), but it's really all I need.

09-04-2008, 08:07 PM
Ahhh, I gotcha. It gets good reviews. That would be my ideal bass for now, but I'll probably end up going even cheaper. :o

Hmm... Musicians Friend has it listed at $239. Sweet, I payed more than that for a Gio guitar. This is good news.

Saucisson is overrated!
(...I'm aware of how bad that joke was...)
Nah, thats a funny joke. lol. And you're right, I only got back into being desperate for saucisson since I got to england and there wasnt any. Its bad for me anyway.
Hum, to answer you Sarah, I wanna go back to the states as soon as I get all the stuff required to go there. I was planning on going when Ive finished my term in avignon (for which I havent got an answer saying that Im accepted yet). But to tell the truth, I was wanna go back as soon as possible. My sister has been on holidays at my house this week and she's a pain in the ass. She's so fucking mean to me, and has been ever since we are kids, (she's 27 now). Okay, nobody else but me, and a bit my parents can notice the mean things she says, but it makes it even worse if I'm the only one who notices, cause she sure doesn't. Anyway, I wanna go as far away as her as I can, besides, I liked the states enough to live there. So really, I should just get on with finding out what to do (and DO IT) for being able to live in the states. I was planning on going next summer, and that's about the time I will, if Im staying all year here, doing my course at Uni.
Well, maybe you guys don't wanna hear about all that, sowwy!

:D@ Randy : I don't know this guitar you're looking forward to buy, I don't this with have that in France. I hate you, in the USA it seems cheaper ^^
And I surfe thought about stealing that guy's guitar, but how would I have done ? He was with his friends; looking like giants compared to me...:D
And your joke was great. :D
I don't know a shit about bass, but I know Ibanez is great ^^
Darea, why your sister is so mean to you ? I know between sisters and brothers there's sometimes some fights, but nothing like the relation your sister has with you...Most of all if you consider she's 27 years old...
I'm not bothered with you telling how things are going in your life :)

Yeah I make things seem worse than they are, but I'm just bored that it's always the same thing. Like I was just asking her to replace the stuff she'd eaten, and she asked me for money and when I said "its stuff you used that was already here" she says "but we've been buying food and we took you to your flat" etc. So Ive just been starving myself and making sure I don't eat anymore of their food.
glad Im not annoying you with my stories

Guys, girls, I'm single.
Yeah, I broke up. We were not meants for each other after all, and so we decided to part ways, etc etc [inserts a vast amount of apt clichés]
BUT
I'm gonna play in concerts with my teacher and that sure as shit is boosting me onward.
Also... I want to move from this crappy 18m² place to somewhere better, that'll actually be MINE, come July. I gotta hold on to that job meanwhile.
Hmm that's about it for the news.
I'm deeply engrossed in my piano-practice, got a lot to catch up on really...

Oh God, another single girl, I feel better now. I'm not alone anymore ;)
Anyway a girl like you can't stay single for long :)
And - wow ! - playing in concert with yiur tecaher ! That is great ! I'm glad for you !
My internet connexion has crashed down, so I can't stay here for long, but I hope things will go better with your sister Darea (who know ? Things may go better all of sudden...)
And let's go on with good news : tomorrow is a bad day for me, start up at 8 in the morning to end at 6 in the evening with a marvellous 4 hours hole in between, from 10 to 14...And I can easily expect to be headache-struck by the end of the day :( I'm just waiting for tomorrow to end)
Anyway, I hope things are alright for you ! :D
Bye bye !

Salut Sarah, yeah things are okay for now. I discovered one of my best friends in my class, which is awesome. I have a nice flat, and my sister has gone back to the alpes. I don't think she will ever change but yeah maybe we'll eventually become friends again.
Hope for you, Maria, to find a better guy, but have fun for the moment!

Hey guys/girls
SO, I got accepted at uni,and Im registering for good next monday. I can finally connect on the uni computers, to go online, which is good. And Ive not even tried my laptop in my room in my flat to see if the internet worked, there's a code for wireless (wi-fi) to work but my wireless was already a bit fucked up when I got it, so Ive not got much hope that it would work. Plus, Im saving up electricity max, like only turning on the light when it gets too dark to read, and basically just using the light in the room in which Im in. All mostly because my rent is expensive and I really gotta get a job.
Got class at 9.30, its cool cause its a translation class. What are you people doing, how's school?

09-20-2008, 09:37 AM
Hey that's wonderful :) That's really great for you !
I don't remember if you told us, but what are you studying ? Languages ?
And actually, I'm doing nothing apart from going to school and playing the guitar. I'm saving money for a new one cause mine is getting worse and worse. School is going okay. My connexion is still down. Nothing really to say xd
Tell us more about how things are going in Uni ! :)

Yeah that's the only thing cool with jobs, really - money. Now that I've a bit more dosh... I'm saving it all up for my plans in the future (real estate, ... yeah I want MY flat, talk about expensive rents, which are in effect nothing but you paying the loan of somebody else, which is why I want to purchase a flat in Paris, but it's around 180,000 € in the 17th district for a 30m², so I leave you to imagine that short of inheriting, I'm pretty well fucked for now...). And jobs will become rather scarce in the financial industry, given the terrible crisis we've reached now... not like 1929, but still, rather dismal. I'd rather not lose my job atm. *coughs*
It's a mate's birthday on Sunday so we'll be out partying and shit till the crack of dawn, and mayhap beyond. Ah, me... I'm exhausted in advance to think of it!
My connexion is working fine but it's a cable, included in the rent of my residence basically. I really don't know what to say to the both of you about your connexion issues! Well Johanna seems to have fewer problems, given that she's got her connexion at uni, but poor Sarah fairly breaks my heart :p Nah, just hope you'll soon sort it all out - or that your parents will!
Other than that, RAS... piano teacher back from his concert in Berlin, and am practising to slowly get ahead, if I record sth soon I'll let you know, if you care to listen for some obscure reason *rolls eyes*
Oh yeah I got my mate a pretty little gift, a little silk bag for partying... it's YEARS since I bought anybody who wasn't family anything, apart from my ex - whom I didn't shower with gifts either, though...! I really hope she'll like it, I thought it was really dainty and lovely myself, and will go with her clothestyle and herself...
No, really, RAS. I work from 9 to 7 so... *sighs*

Well the course is called
"master 1 Identité des cultures anglophones et traduction", Im mostly doing it for the translation, and we have 3 classes of that, which is awesome. And apart from having one of my best friends in my class, Ive got some new good friends, which makes it even better. And uni is cool, most of the teachers are nice. We have a linguistics class with an englishman... my friends have always been crazy about saying "he's such a handsome, smart man, especially for his age (he's maybe in his 50s or more) and yeah he has got the "english charm, or charme anglais". Anyway we never understand anything in our linguistics class, there's things like S1=S2 and stuff like what the hell maths? lol anyway, enjoying it. And ive found a pub where they sell english cider, so cooool!!

Add one more person to the list of connection problems! Mine goes in and out quite regularly, although it's been a lot better for a week or so. I have to have had my internet for six months in order to not have to pay when I cancel, and that six months is up in about a week. I will surely be excercising that option.
I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I don't know anything about the world markets. Are our countries' struggles related to one another? Anyway, good luck with your job and everything, Maria.
Oh, and just fyi, my little sister's birthday is also Sunday. She'll be 13!

Ooh! Which sister is that? Shareta (hope I got the name right), I thought she was already 14... guess I was wrong, she looks 14... lol. Anyway, please say happy b.day from me, even if she hardly knows me. As we say in france "c'est l'intention qui compte" (its the intention that counts)

Hehe, I'll tell her. She's exactly 9 years and 11 months younger than I, so you basically take 10 years off my age if you ever want to determine hers. And we say "It's the thought that counts."

Okay well I was close "intention" and thought is not that far away. For some silly reason I was thinking you were talking about Afrikka at first but obviously she's not your sister! You should tell me all their bdays or at least hers , so that I can send her a surprise bday card or something. At least once, cause Afrikka's a sweety!

All sweet people seem to have been born this Sunday! Happy birthday to the little sis, Randy!
So apart from grumbling about connection issues like your gf & co. :p what do you do now? Last time I heard - and that was quite some months back you were planning to get back on the studies, but what studies, it completely escapes me! Should I be embarrassed? I got the deal second-hand from Johanna you see, cause you yourself never told me! So I can't say I'm at fault there, am I? :p
As for me, life goes on pretty much as usual. Apart from partying I'm working my arse off at this asset management job I got 3 months back...
But let me first outline our economies. You will be aware *talks like Peter O'Toole in Night of the Generals* of the subprime crisis that hit your country a year ago. Its aftermath is being felt today. Fannie and Freddy were in dire need of a bail-out, so were loads of behemoth-like investment institutions full to their ears with toxic assets: Lehman Brothers, who foundered recently. AIG, who got rescued by your gvt - and really the taxpayer's money. And so on and so forth. Well France is also a capitalistic country, and yeah, precisely, our economies are linked. When your president is rooting for a strong dollar, this in terms would imply a weakening euro, right? It cuts both ways. When the Fed cuts down the interest rate, it would boost growth, but would let inflation up as well thereby letting the dollar down. In short, it's a global economy and the world being as it is if once the US of A sinks into a gloomy depression, then it bodes ill for the world at large! Which is why your gvt decided to bail out those banks. But on our side of the Atlantic things are just as dismal, or nearly. I don't think wer'e as stoked on toxic assets, but lots of banks are finding themselves short on cash. And for want of ready money the whole system might be going down the drain. I was doing an internship in Fortis bank not long ago, before I found this job, and I now hear that Fortis may be purchased by another bank, and they're giving away billions' worth of assets. Well I'm glad I've stepped out, but nobody knows who's next, really, and our president just gave a speech urging us to unify in the face of adversity - talk about spin.
So yeah, did you get my drift or did you drift away? I've just outlined what you will find in any good paper, but as you told me you were ignorant of our world markets I thought it safe to get back to th basics and don't worry I'll NEVER bore you again with all that crap, promise. Unless you ask for it, of course!
Johanna why the HELL do they put maths in linguistics? Me no understandy. Not that I've got anything against maths, but still, why? Haha I wish I could see that 50-year-old English charming bloke you've got for a teacher! I'd be sure to like him!
I wish you all a pleasant week-end... off to do some shopping, kisses.
edit: just posted in The Music Style of your Country thread, with a mention about Travolta, some news I read which jolted me!

Ahh, thanks for the Economy 101 lesson ('twas quite interesting...no, really)! I was aware of which specific institutions went under, and I was vaguely aware that the subprime lending thing was related, and now I think I've got it all. I must read the newspaper more often. :o
As for what I do now, you're certainly not at fault for not knowing, hehe. I put it off for long enough, but I've finally decided to "get off my hump," as I've heard it said, and go back to uni (well, commUNIty college). After going through so many fields of study, I think I've settled on computer programming, and eventually computer science, if I go to a proper uni. I will start in January.
And I shall tell my sister that "Maria" says happy birthday.:p
darea
09-29-2008, 06:37 AM
Hey Maria
Well yeah in Linguistics there are symbols and stuff that remind us of maths, its not really maths though. But it's still annoying!
And Randy, why do you have to wait till January before starting? Hope you'll really do it though and not push it back for some other time!
I'm glad Im not doing a Master2 in france, the dissertation/memoire seems annoying and its hard to get into a M2 in translation in france, because they are very selective and only pick the top people. And also as there are only about 4 unis in the whole of france who do translation masters... there would be people all over france trying to get into those 4 schools and its hard. So that means that when I've finished year, I'll have time in the sense that I would have to think about school anymore, but about a job eventually to the US...maybe!

Hey guys and girls !
My internet connexion was successfully fixed by my father (who had to bough another modem because it seems like passed away). So my connexion is okay and I hope that Randy's and Johanna's works also better.
AAAah Maria, you're killing me with your economics course :p Nah, just kidding. But aren't we all linked together because of mondialisation ? I had to write an 6 pages about that for my geography teacher, it was sick.
Well, after Johanna's speech, I'm happy I didn't choose to do some linguistics studies...It looks tricky. A friend wanna work in linguistics or translation, I think it's not the same, is it ? Is it in linguistics that you analize the differents sounds of a foreign language ?
Anyway.
Do you have many sisters, Randy ?
Apart from that, I've got nothing to say. I didn't went to shcool on thursday and Friday so I had an extra-week and it was great. Also, I ma have a new haircut but I'm not sure and I'll probably offer myself a new guitar on Christmas. That is all ^^
See ya later :)

Congrats on getting that connection fixed, Sarah. :D I think I'm going to have to switch from DSL to cable internet to fix mine. I even had a guy come out and work on it, to no avail. About sisters, I suppose you could say I have many, if you consider four many.
darea
10-06-2008, 07:30 AM
Hey Sarah, yeah Linguistics is different from translation. Its a lot of theory, like why does someone use the word "We" rather than "I" in a political speech and stuff, its about the meaning of words and stuff... Very complicated, oh and the origin of words too.
But translation is nicer, and more about translating from one language to another.
I think 4 is a lot of sisters! I always get confused about how many he has, although now I know them all. And one brother...
