I've been involved in a division of the new Youth International Party in my state, and we're planning to protest the high costs of a permit to assemble publicly.

The law says that three or more people assembling to protest must have the correct permits to do so, and can only protest for the time allowed by the city. We're getting about forty people to stand two to a group every hundred feet on main street, holding signs and trying to get the public attention.

I know that this plan is full of holes, but I think it's just the act of getting the thought out there and attracting people who are interested that keeps us going on this.

I'm not sure why I posted this here- comments?

No to protest. Protest cost time and money. Your taxes could be better spent elsewhere! Like on the Trident for instance.

Assembling forty people in staggered formation still = assembling. I hope the cops down the station show you what those foam mattresses are really for.

I wouldn't count on any real publicity.

I was in a protest once. Our school made us ask for more money so that the teachers could go relax or something.

I've never been to a single protest since then. Talk about BORING.
