Who's your favorite late night TV host? Least favorite?

My pick is Conan, since he's the only person on late night TV even worth watching anymore. Letterman is past his prime, Daily is a tool, Kimmel is dull, Ferguson is cheesy, and Leno just plain blows on every level. Well, I guess Leno is kind of funny to watch when he thinks he's being offensive, but that's about it.

I also pick Conan. His show is great. I could never watch any of the other late night shows. Also, I share a birthday with him, so that's another plus I guess. Oh, and Billy Talent was a musical guest once.

I'm looking forward to he starts hosting the Tonight Show in 2009.

My favorite has always been Conan. He's got the same sort of funny mannerisms that Colbert has. And his jokes are superior too.

Well,I suppose the British equivalent of those shows would be Tonight With Jonathan Ross.It isn't on late though.Kinda 9pm on Fridays. He is really funny and makes sex jokes (that are actually funny)! And he always has guests on that you have actually heard of,instead of mini-celebrities who've been famous for 5 minutes. All good.:D

I haven't really watched any besides a little Conan in a few years. I always liked Letterman the best. I don't really care for Conan, but I haven't seen Letterman in a while, so he's probably not as good as he once was. I just get sick of hearing about Conan, plus I find him sorta average, so that brings me to not like him, I guess, haha. But my opinion doesn't count too much. :)

I like Conan a lot but hardly ever see his show. I would occasionally watch Leno when I was in high school but never really liked Letterman at all.

Never watch any of them these days, but I used to watch Conan. He's easily the best.

Letterman I always found to be boring. Leno was funnier. Conan was definitely my favorite. I haven't seen any of them in years.

Kimmel was never funny. I hate people who like Jimmy Kimmel in the same way I hate people who like Adam Corrolla or Carlos Mencia.

conan and letterman are the only ones i like at all. letterman was fantastic back in the 80s and early 90s. now he's just ok.

kimmel's only redeaming value is that he has Gerhard Reinke's America segments every once in a while.

Yeah, the older days of Letterman were awesome. I liked him throughout the 90s, probably until around 98 or 99.

i'll watch Leno sometimes, mainly because he's the lead-in to Conan. Conan is easily my favorite. I adore him so much (especially his string dance, <3ryan'savatar<3).

i don't watch any others, unless I leave the tv on during Carson Daly, because *he's* the lead-in to Poker After Dark. i don't really watch him though, he's generally pretty annoying.

the only other person that currently has a show that I have ever watched is Letterman. i don't find him funny in the least and his bandleader is fucking annoying.

I liked Kimmel when he was on Win Ben Stein's Money. Whenever he has a bigger role than that (i.e. the Man Show or his own talk show) he sucks, but he worked pretty well with Ben Stein.

Conan. /thread

But yeah, on the Letterman subject, what I see is that someone either really loves him and thinks he's the best, or they (I) think he's boring. I also watch the Colbert Report, but I don't know if that is considered "Late Night".

Or you think he used to be really good and now think he's okay.

It's on at 11:30, so...yes?

If it is, I pick that one too, even though I only watch the next-day reruns at 2:30.

From the little I've seen from Ferguson, I think he's pretty good. It just sucks that he shares the same time slot with Conan. I don't have Tivo or plan to so that sucks. I haven't really watched Conan since the horney manatee stuff though.

Exactly, Conan reigns supreme. He started out slow, shitty first few seasons, but he's really come into his own. You know Jon Stewart was apparently in the running to take over from Letterman? That'd be weird if he got the job instead of O'Brien.

Letterman used to rock back in the day, but agreed, not so much anymore.

And Leno's only strength is Kevin Eubanks. That guy has the fucking funniest laugh, and random comments. Only thing worth watching Leno's show for.

I have a question though, when Conan takes over Leno's show, what do you think will happen? I was kind of too young to remember all of the last host changes in the early 90s, but you think the Max Weinberg 7 will transfer to the Tonight Show? I'm not so sure how that works.

And he'll probably have to tone down the jokes a little too, Conan usually goes further than Leno with the celebrity bashings and all. Maybe the earlier timeslot will factor into that, I dunno.

But yeah, Conan is supreme, then Letterman, and Leno can just go fuck off and play with his automobile collection. They guy just ain't funny.

The band WILL transfer over, and Conan will be the same as always... just with all the "hip, happening" celebrities as guests.

It does in fact suck, but he has stated on the show that he (and the band) will be moving to LA for the Tonight Show.

Conan on Finnish TV is a fucking gamble. Never know if it's gonna be a fresh episode or a re-run from spring 2006 or some shit.

But I like Conan best from what I see. He's got very natural comic skills and great improvisation. When you've got a good guest with him, the interview - and I use that term loosely - will be fucking gold. Like I almost literally fell off the seat laughing at this one he did with Will Arnett.

Ferguson's monologues - from what I've caught of them on youtube - can be golden but also rather repeatitive. And I doubt his interviews would be as fantastic as Conan's but his monologues often beat Conan's (not a tough task).

If The Colbert Report is late night then it's without a doubt a fave. Though I just watch it online (ta, ComedyCentral.com!).

You should start watching Letterman again.

I don't consider Colbert Report or the Daily Show late night, mainly because they're pretty different from the usual late-night formate. And because they're miles ahead.

Right, ok, I kind of missed his announcement about the band transferring, although obviously the show will be taping in L.A. as it always has.

Cool. I've never been much of a fan of the bands on The Tonight Show or The Late Show.

Vera, I actually think Conan's interviewing skills are his downfall. If there's one fault to Conan's show, that'd be it. I guess you could blame the format for that (they tend to be shorter than Leno's & Letterman's, so obviously can't be as in-depth), but Conan has this annoying habit of turning the interviews into being all about himself. He kind of goes off on these random stories about himself, after the guest replies to one of his questions.

It's minor, but it kind of pisses me off.

Although yeah, couple Conan with a legendary comedian in an interview (the more recent ones I'm thinking of are Martin Short and Robin Williams), and mass fucking hilarity will ensue.

I agree with you about Colbert Report and Daily show... although i do DVR them and watch them at times. I think they are good.

I actually did catch the episode with Adam Sandler as the host. I had a friend from Boston call me and tell me, so i had to tune in (Her shows come on before mine, in case someone doesn't get that)
