Which is better, a Squire Telecaster w/ a humbucker replacing the single coil at the neck Made in India, or a Ibanez Gio GRG made in China because i just bought a tele and i had the ibanez already, and just because The tele was $350, and the Ibanez was $260 doesnt mean anything, because ibaez are cheaper than other guitars

Firstly, wrong forum. But I'm sure a mod will move it for you.

Second, with such vastly different guitars the question shouldn't be which is better. It should be "which one will I use more effectively, and when?"

I'd need to know what kind of music you play to put it in context for you before I can elaborate though.

ya i play more punk rock, but since its got the humbucker at the neck instead, it can be used for punk rock as well

So you play punk rock & punk rock?
versatile.

Yeah, in general neither guitar will make that much of a difference then. But I will suggest if you're playing something with clean sections use the tele, it's not gospel truth or anything, but people generally prefer the distorted tone of everything else to a telecaster. Not that they can't do it, because they can, humbucker equipped especially.

but uhh, the best answer I can give you is that comparing these guitars is like comparing apples and oranges, but inside of punk they will both do roughly the same thing. Also, just get used to both of them and see which you prefer. No one in the world can tell you what you think is better.

This is a request from one human being to another. Ryder, please, lose the guitar from your sig. It is unsightly.

It doesn't though. Theres alot more to a guitars tone than its pickups. And many people prefer the thinner attack of a single coil guitar for punk music.

so if i took my crap strat lookalike and gave it better pickups (strat Quality) and a better bridge etc. it could also be put to good use?

@Ryder

Yes. But as a rule of thumb it's not worth buying good pickups for a bad guitar. Wood quality comes into being a major factor, and a strat look-a-like will be made with terrible wood and put together poorly.

Instead of up-grading it, it's a much better idea to just buy a better guitar.
But you have two decent guitars for playing your style of music anyway, you shouldn't need to worry for awhile.
