I agree. I think the new albums got a real chance to break expectations, since they've been working on it for a while now.

yeah and there is a new producer..i´m sure at least, it will be something different from the past two albums..
It'll be interesting to see what happens. They've had so long break now that they might be a bit forgotten at the moment like the article said, but all it needs is a massive hit first single and a little better preparation, promotion... not like with Hit That, shoot the video- what, like a month after the single has been already released and the video was absolutely senseless as a bonus. The album can go really either way, but we'll see. If Columbia Records wants it to be big they'll put an effort on it big time. At least in here, we had a massive campaign for the Greatest Hits album and it worked, the record company in Finland was more than happy about the sales.
Bob Rock working as the producer is already a huge publicity magnet, so this one's definitely got potential. Dexter is able to make some catchy stuff with his unique vocals so I'm pretty much trusting this will go well too.

and that Hit That video, some people say, was done against Offspring´s will, it was a Columbia´s order... strange..

Which would explain why it isn't talked about at all in the CMVC.

An N.W.A. comeback is a horrible idea.

1 month, no updates. Next update might be like the last, who knows. But it's starting to build up to something..

Yeah, I'm totally stoked for the new album after reading that article. But seriously, Dexter needs to update us on whats going on. I'm sure by now they have a song ready to be launched as a single, but who knows? An monthly update isn't helping too much.

I guess it's on some of our's minds - we can't wait for it. And anyway, this is sort of geared towards the new album because it's talking about how The Offspring need to make a comeback with it. Which they damn well will.

Wish that they woulda said a bit more about the Offspring. While I like STP I think that getting rid of Velvet Revolver would be bad, I really like them. And I'd also like to see a No Doubt comeback, Gwen Stefani's solo stuff sucks so bad.

Me too. I feel as though her new populiarity and genre/fanbase would turn the No Doubt we know and love into mainstream drivvel. This, in a way makes me hope they don't get back together, and ruin what was once an amazing band.

That`s true.
But well guys there`s no need to push Dexter to update the journal, he must be really busy with the recording of the album.
Man I can`t stop thinking that they`re working with Bob Rock! Surely the album will be somelike Splinter, because of the "metal" style Splinter has. That`s great! And don`t get confused, I don`t pretend to create another "new offspring album" thread.
