Dear Offspring Fans,
Atom and I wanted to drop you guys a little note, since we know people have been talking about why Atom has left the drummer seat for The Offspring.
The simple truth is that Atom had been working on a few of his own projects during our down time, including Angels & Airwaves but other things too. We think that‘s great. Unfortunately, in order for him to see those things through he isn‘t left with enough time to devote to future Offspring stuff. It was a tough choice, but we understand.
Atom‘s been a great drummer for us and we‘re sure Pete will be great too!

Atom was my fave out of their drummer switching situations. I wasn't a fan when Ron was in the band, but he was still awesome. I'm sure Pete will be great as well.

All I can say, as a fan, thank you both for the message. A thoughtful attitude towards the fans.
PS: Why didn't that happen when Ron left?

I still don't see the point of this journal entry, unless they saw the forums and got tired of that whole conflict.

OWNED! :) - to the people who were speaking that no journal follows... Of course, we heard nothing new. But it's a kind of politeness... Maybe Dexter was really upset, when Ron left, so he wrote nothing about it.
P.S. Good luck to Atom and Pete!

I wish the best for Atom and I know he do have a lot of potential. When Ron left I was pist and afraid of what kind ouf guy they were going to hire but I was really proud of their decision with Atom. He is a awsome drummer and I will be looking foward for his actual and upcoming projects. I also believe in Pete because if we look back with the decision of The offspring by hiring Atom, im not scare of whats next with Pete.
Thanks Dexter and Atom, im glad I did have the chance to see Atom live with the band and now, im waiting for the upcoming album and maybe I'll see Pete live to if they come around in next tour.

I think some of those people winging in the last thread owe Dexter an apology....
Thanks for the info Dex! We'll miss you Atom!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case. They seem to be getting somewhat annoyed with the shit that goes on in this section. Hell, 2 out of Dexter's 3 posts have been commenting on a certain person's stupidity.

What are you talking about? Would you say that it's NOT a common thing for one or more band members to comment when someone quits? No offense, but how the fuck can anyone think that? In fact, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find even one instance where someone quits a band and nothing is said by at least one of the members.

So in your mind, the last journal entry wouldn't even exist without the comments a few random people made in these forums? I find that hard to believe...

First of all, Atom was barely a member. He never even recorded with them. If he was a member for a long time, then yes, I would expect some sort of explanation, but the reason he left was obvious to everyone and didn't need to be explained.

As I said earlier - it's a kind of politeness, at least. And we all know that Atom is a good guy, so Dexter probably wanted to wish him good luck by himself in public :)

worth pointing out that Atom didn't even do the drums for Can't Repeat. For whatever reason they had Josh do that too.

Woah everyone calm down! One journal entry and people end up getting called assholes. Thanks for the entry Dex and Atom, some people may have thought it was pointless but I think that if Dexter had more to say then who are we to deny him.

Well no, but heres what Ron said after his decision to leave:
(Dexter's quote included)
After more than 15 great years with The Offspring I've decided to leave to devote all my energies on a new project called Steady Ground. I wish Dexter, Noodles and Greg the best of luck moving forward and it's time for me to focus on my own thing," said Ron.
Dexter says "After being together so long it will be weird doing stuff without Ron, but we are really looking forward to putting this new record out. We wish him the best."

So somehow by saying....So in your mind, the last journal entry wouldn't even exist without the comments a few random people made in these forums? I find that hard to believe... I'm putting words into your mouth? What the fuck are you talking about? And when did I make it seem that you don't have the right to explain yourself? I honestly don't think you know what the fuck you're saying (on this particular topic), so I would quit it with the arrogance.

There is really no need for the hostility here, people. Nothing of Jakebert's original post had anything remotely hostile. It was a simple and plausible observation. Chill, please.

You ARE putting words in his mouth. He said he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. He never said that HE BELIEVES that is the case. You said, "In your mind, ______". No, in his mind, that's not the situation. In his mind, he WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED if it was. Saying, "I wouldn't be surprised if Noodles was gay" does NOT mean, "I think Noodles is gay". It means you wouldn't be like "OMG NO WAY" if he was. Ugh.

You seriously deleted your post and rewrote it after mine so that it would be the newest post in the thread??
And endlesstom, if you think that's a comparable example, you're even stupider than I thought.
In what ways is it not comparable? I gave a stupid opinion and instead of owning up to it, I used a little grammatical loophole by saying " I only said I wouldn't be surprised ". You know, kind of the EXACT SAME THING that Jakebert did, and started crying when I called him out on it.

It's not often I speak like this, but seriously, shut the fuck up. Jakebert arrogantly said "learn to read" to me, and clearly, that's where the hostility began. If you can't be bothered to actually read what's happened then don't tell me to chill. Or just don't say anything. You're playing favorites. Period.

How can I play favorites when I barely ever if ever talk to Jakebert? Doesn't playing favorites necessitate that the perosn I'm defending be a friend or favorite? Just stop it. You're just lashing out. "Learn to read" is pretty standard fare here.

hahaha, that's not comparable.
You don't even need an example. Just prove that Jakebert's "I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case" is not true. Exactly like with a cheese.
Look it up on Wiki.
