I'm looking for anything by the band touche Amore and any of Death Cab for Cutie's older albums that are similar to their new single.
Also, any really good pop like Hellogoodbye.

Pilz:1. I had found, like, every Death Cab album on some website; I can find it again.
2. You'd like The Postal Service. Singer from Death Cab singing over electronic music. Really catchy pop, really awesome everything.
I'll get those up today/tomorrow.
+Can anyone upload any Nada Surf albums? I've been meaning to scope them out. I will repay with a few Mountain Goats albums because AAE asked for some a couple of days ago and they are also awesome.

Would anyone be willing to post an mp3 of the acoustic version of Dirty Magic? The only reason I haven't bought Greatest Hits is because I heard that was only going to be on the DVD.
edit; I would also greatly appreciate the acoustic version of Defy You.

Don't get Reasonable Doubt, Pilz. I definitely recommend getting either The Blueprint (don't confuse that with The Blueprint 2 or Blueprint 2.1), or The Black Album. Seriously. Reasonable Doubt is trash. It's probably Jay Z's most generic-rap album.
Once I get around to uploading those BNL albums, I could get up a Jay Z album.

Reasonable Doubt is indeed one of the most overrated albums ever. It's "okay", and that's about it. Thing is, Jay-Z has become such a legend that everyone wants to claim this album as their favorite just because it's his first...and what's worse is that he has one of the all time greatest hip-hop classics ("Dead Presidents") on it so people can add some legitimacy to their bullshit claims. Fuck that. Get The Blueprint of The Black Album first.

I hated it when I first got it too, but then I realized how good it was. I dunno, clever wordplay, general humor amidst relatively difficult musical parts. The cd ...Is A Real Boy really... changed my musical beliefs. The whole cd is just the singer with a drummer. The singer plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and all that stuff, and the stuff he writes is both lyrically hilarious, musically interesting, and just enjoyable.
I dunno, a lot of people vehemently dislike them, and I felt iffy about them at best when I first heard them and a few months after that, but I suddenly determined that I loved them a few months ago and haven't changed my mind since.

I had to let go of lots of music after reformatting :(
I need plz:
Tsunami Bomb
I need both the Definitive Act and The Ultimate Escape. Any EPs anyone happens to have of their would be awesome, too.
The Blood Brothers
Crimes and Young Machetes. (Made sure I kept BPIB, kuz like, one of the most awesome albums ever created, duh?)
That's all I can think of for now, although I know there's more...
And I think I'd like more of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I already have Show Your Bones, and I don't know of anything specific I want of theirs, so I'll take anything.
Please and Thankiez.

I love how widespread that list became. I was part of the initial group putting it together on the Streetlamps website, and now it's become utterly huge. It was originally called "Up The Punx." I don't get why people would stop calling it that.
But yeah, there's some great stuff on there, definitely.

I've been meaning to check them out for a while, and on youtube i listened to this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=67wLORmR7fc), and its been stuck in my head all day. From my understanding this is a more "punk" version of the original new wave masterpiece; and i fucking love this version.

For anyone who's interested, the new Atmosphere album, "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold"
http://www.sendspace.com/file/1orahk
As he has on the duo's past albums, MC Slug plays the role of the storyteller, describing the lives of his various characters, all down on their luck (drug addicts, single mothers, homeless men) and struggling to just make it from day to day. The vitriol and anger that were found in Slug's earlier rhymes, however, has left -- along with much of Ant's heavier production -- and are replaced by lyrics that, though equally reflective, take a more resigned view of the world. These are people trying to cope with what they have and who they are, people who have accepted the facts that make their lives reality, who are no longer demanding something different. "They fight about money, they fight about life/So she concentrates so so hard on the music/And loses herself inside the bass and the movement" he rhymes in "In Her Music Box," describing a little girl, and in "Yesterday" he admits that "Leavin' me was probably the best thing you ever taught me." Slug has never been one to gloss over the ugly details, and when his characters are broken (and they all are, to varying degrees), he makes sure to let everyone know. "Your Glasshouse," which features TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe on background vocals, tells of a woman for whom it "ain't the first time throwin' up in a strange toilet," and who then returned to the unknown bed "and fell back asleep," while "The Skinny" has the lines "Your lips taste like his dick/I can always tell when he's been in your whip," his pronunciation of that final syllable particularly exaggerated. The self-loathing and depression from Atmosphere's other albums are both still here, but they're less intense and immediate, reflected in Ant's concentration on live guitars and keyboards, a wholly more organic presentation.

Thanks, guys. I heard Rabbit Habits back when the whole thing was on their Myspace but it was nice to hear it again. It's really good I think. Different, but in a good way. The catchy songs are great (Hurly Burly, Doo Right, Top Drawer), but the insane epic last two tracks are great too. I'm gonna be listening to this for a while.
Ratatat was good too. It's also pretty different. I'm not sure if all the changes were completely necessary, but I really really REALLY love "Mirando." And "Falcon Jab" and "Mumtaz Khan" aren't far behind it. I'm gonna have to listen a few more times before I really make up my mind about the rest of the album.

Okay. My bi-yearly contribution, on request. A bunch of the new stuff I like is from recommendations on here, so I can't just re-upload any of that.
First, some stuff that Per and Tizz will like.
Matt Costa. I got hooked on his album "The Songs We Sing" for a while. EVERYBODY likes it. Or at least, all my friends that hear it when I play it in the car say it's good, and that's a rarity. He's hailed as the new Jack Johnson, but I don't really think he sounds the same. It's really catchy and happy.
Here are a couple of tunes:

Matt Costa - Whiskey and Wine (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ6Rnc5eFUwTVE9PQ)
This song was put on a mixed CD for me and it's pretty decent:
The Buttless Chaps - Tracks Tonight (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ6RndrUmxFQlE9PQ)
Also, a dramatic tune from Hawksley's new CD:
Hawksley Workman - Prettier Face (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ6RndsUi92Wmc9PQ)
Next, some songs that I'm directing especially at Mike, Jakebert, etc. (indie, kinda weirdish), but everybody should download if interested; I have good taste!
I downloaded the album "People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World" by the Andrew Jackson Jihad and I LOVE it. SO good. If you like it, you can get it from that site that Mike posted with all the music downloads. Here are a couple of songs:
Andrew Jackson Jihad - Brave as a Noun (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ6RndqV0EwTVE9PQ)
(the songs sounds like it cuts out, but it just goes into the next song on the album)
Andrew Jackson Jihad - People II: The Reckoning (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlIrYSt6NEkwTVE9PQ)
Been listening to the album "Red Yellow & Blue" by Born Ruffians, and it's pretty decent. Songs:
Born Ruffians - Barnacle Goose (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlIrYStnYU0wTVE9PQ)
Born Fuffians - Kurt Vonnegut (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ4bEEzS3BFQlE9PQ)
And finally, some songs for everybody that aren't "indie" but are awesome.
This song is amazing, a hidden gem. Everybody who I've listened to it with agrees:
Phil Collins - The Roof is Leaking (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ4bEErV3l4dnc9PQ)
I am so in love with Bruce lately, so I constantly feel the need to share the love. I think this song is epic (from "The Rising"):
Bruce Springsteen - Worlds Apart (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ4bEE1bmp2Wmc9PQ)
Finally, if you haven't seen "Into the Wild," or haven't yet acquired the soundtrack, you should download this song:
Eddie Vedder - Society (https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01GSlJ4bEFtMEx2Wmc9PQ)

Thanks for the huge amount of uploads, Betty! I grabbed all of them and plan on going through them soon. What did you think of the new Okkervil? I'm really digging it, like, a lot.
Also, I never got into Andrew Jackson Jihad, but they've been touring around with Bomb The Music Industry!, who are my favorite band. If you haven't checked them out, they're, like... uh, I don't know, laptop punk?
Their music is free on their website, but here are a few songs that I whore out to everyone, streaming, so no download required:

Mike, the link didn't work when I tried it! Or at least, I think I was able to download something, but then I couldn't get it to work? It was devastating.
I have noooo clue what laptop punk would be, but I'll give it a listen. It's funny, I used to be so into punk, and I still like a bunch of the old albums I have, but I haven't gotten into very many new punk bands at all. I guess I haven't really tried very hard either. But I think at this point I'd only be able to get into something that had a little bit of a twist. Still haven't completely gotten into Rise Against, aside from a few tunes, but I did see them open for the Foo Fighters a while ago, and they were WAY better than the headliners.

Alrighty, a few things here.
Everyone knows I love The New Pornographers (or should), and that love extended into Neko Case, all three of her country/indie/whatever albums. I have recently purchased a cd of "Neko Case and her Boyfriends," a kind of rare find since they never made a lot of noise (lolpun). If any would like it, let me know here.
Secondly, I recently found out Neko Case was in a three-chick punk band in the nineties called Maow -- anyone know anything about them?
Ricky/Ricardo/JonnyNemesis -- I have yet to hear news on the Fischerspooner album, but if it's out/when it comes out would you mind dropping a note here? You're the only contact I have who may have the infos.
Simple request here, "Who's Next" by The Who.
Lastly, a list of bands Last.Fm recommends for me. If anyone has any CDs/recommendations on them please let me know. Don't laugh if some seem ridiculous. I want only positive comments/constructive criticism/recommendations/actual songs at the moment, regardless of the band (Unless you know me pretty well, of which there are a slight few who might, and know I'll either definitely love or hate one).
Vanden Plas -- Redemption -- Beyond Twilight -- Circus Maximus -- Fates Warning -- Immaculate Machine -- Destroyer -- Devo -- Talking Heads -- Counting Crows -- Threshold -- The Wallflowers.
Due to time, this is one of the few threads I still check fairly regularly, so please post an info here or leave a PM.

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk3GYN6M4-U) is the only song I've ever heard by them. Oddly enough, it was just posted on the other board I'm on like a week ago.
Devo -- Counting Crows
My favorite Devo album by far is their first, Are We Not Men? We Are DEVO! I'll upload it tonight if no one beats me to it. I haven't listened to Counting Crows in ages, but the general consensus seems to be that August and Everything After is their best work. I don't have anything of theirs though, I used to listen to my brother's copy of it way back when.

Alec : It's because Canada has all the Neko Case and her Boydriends' CDs! Hah!
I'm requesting music for the first time here and I don't think anyone will be able to help me, but I'm trying anyway. Anyone has Maryam Mursal's music? I know 3 songs of hers (all on The Journey, I think), but I can't find anything in the CD stores over here.

Vanden Plas -- Redemption -- Beyond Twilight -- Circus Maximus -- Fates Warning -- Immaculate Machine -- Destroyer -- Devo -- Talking Heads -- Counting Crows -- Threshold -- The Wallflowers.
I can recommend Immaculate Machine. They're actually from Victoria. I've seen 'em open for the New Pornographers twice. I think the singer is A.C. Newman's niece... I don't know if you looked up that info. Their style is KIND of similar to the New Pornographers I guess.
The album "Ones and Zeros" is quite good. I mean, they're not the greatest band ever, but they're good, and I've listened to that CD quite a bit, it draws you in the more you listen to it.
You can get the first song, "Broken Ship," on their website. I could upload more if you special request it.
Edit: "C'mon Sea Legs" on their myspace is pretty sweet.
Edit again: Yeah, okay, I don't think I did a good enough job trying to sell these guys.

Well, whatever, I don't have it.

Tom Waits - Glitter And Doom Tour in Atlanta (7/5/08) (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92916923)
http://media.npr.org/music/liveconcerts/2008/waits/waits300.jpg
Here's what we do know: Waits has dubbed his summer 2008 tour "Glitter and Doom." It's a trek through the lower half of the U.S. he describes as "PEHDTSCKJMBA" (pronounced "pess-kuh-JUM-buh), an acronym for each of the tour's stops: Phoenix, El Paso, Houston, Dallas, Tulsa, St. Louis, Columbus, Knoxville, Jacksonville, Mobile, Birmingham and Atlanta.
For his Atlanta stop, recorded at the city's historic Fox Theater on July 5, Waits delivered a stunning and epic two-and-a-half-hour performance, including songs he says he's never attempted outside of the studio before.
I hate everyone who lives far enough South to see Tom Waits, I've been waiting years. Anyone who wants to download that show and put it on their iPod, NPR has a free podcast of it under All Songs Considered Live Shows, and I know somewhere where it's uploaded to the interwebs for those who don't have iTunes and wants it.

So that live show really spurred my love for Tom Waits again, so here's the first part of the 3-cd set of B-Sides, Orphans. I'll put the other two up as separate pieces tomorrow.
Brawlers is all of the upbeat rock/blues tunes in the B-Sides collection, really something to... I don't know, stomp to? It's awesome, get it. Tom Waits is a madman and I can't recommend him enough to people who like to hear something unlike anything they've heard before.
