AP - According to defense secretary Robert Gates, the U.S. has said that an invasion of Canada is imminent after discussions involving a U.S./Canadian maple syrup deal broke down last Sunday. Gates responded by saying "there is a maple syrup crisis right now". But many people are wondering if our military is already worn to thin to undertake this kind of invasion. President George W. Bush in his address to the nation said, "we need to end our dependence on foreign maple syrup". President Bush also had this to say about Canada's Prime Minister "Stephen Harper is an evil dictator, and it is in our interest to free the Canadian people". Presidnt Bush ended his address by saying, "you are either for America, or for the maple syrup hoarders". The President ended his day in the White House library reading his favorite coloring books and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Edit: Also if the US really is planning a Canadian invasion, can someone tell the army to capture Billy Talent for us? They never play any concerts nearby :(

I skimmed it, and as soon as I saw "maple syrup" I realized how lame it was. Whoever wrote that needs their humor checked.

You have to wonder if he Dain'd this, thinking it was funny. Or wrote it, thinking it was funny. And which one is worse.

The sad part is that I considered making the same "joke"... but I decided against it. :P

Ugh, I know. I thought the same thing. But I think the latter is worse.

Canada makes more than 80 percent of the world's maple syrup, producing about 7 million US gallons in 2005. The vast majority of this comes from Quebec: the province is by far the world's largest producer, with about 75 percent of the world production (6.5 million US gallons in 2005).[3] The provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick produce smaller amounts.

Vermont is the biggest U.S. producer, with 410,000 US gallons in 2005, followed by Maine, New York, Ohio, and then a half-dozen other states with smaller industries.
