Just bought CD...NEED some HELP...

hey, i just bought the offspring's first cd, the one that was banned, with the alien in the chest on the cover, and i was just told it's a fake, can someone take a look at this and help me out. i'd appreciate it. any pics of the actual cd to compare would help too.

It was actually just a vinyl...so it's fake. However, it's probably worth a bit as a bootleg since nobody has it.

there are a lot of cassettes and cds like this one.

they never "released" any of either, only vinyl. everything thats been said about the first album before suggests it was 110% ONLY on vinyl.

but someone posted a scan of an old maximum rock n roll advert which sold the first album... on vinyl and cassette.

maybe the cassette didnt take off, or maybe they didnt sell [m]any.

but if there are atleast a few legit cassettes around there, there is a tiny chance there are a few legit cds too.

absolutely no word from any official source on the legitimacy of either cassette or cd though...

for thirty-odd bucks, probably not such a great deal.

I'd just like to add that fake or not, your bid is a contract and you will be held responsible by eBay for payment. I'd do your research now on their policy on bootlegged items before doing that.

yeah, i know its a contract once you bid, but your not suppose to be selling stupid shit like that. if it's a false item then the hell with that. it's basically pirating music, i could burn any one of my cd's and sell it with the title "rare and hard to find". and i dont think ebay gives permission for selling bs like that.

Like I said, you should really look into eBay's policy on fakes before you refuse to pay. They should have a conflict resolution team or something that you can contact, and you should do that NOW so it doesn't look like you're just making things up to avoid paying.

For what it's worth: pay via Paypal, wait 2-3 weeks and then start a dispute resolution with Paypal (just say you didn't get the item, lie lie lie). Given that the payment went to Europe it might involve the European Paypal (which is understaffed + awesome European consumer protection law). If this is the case, chances of you getting your money back are 99%. If everything goes via the North American Paypal chances of you getting your money back are close to zero.

Even if you provide a tracking number and a delivery signature from DHL, it isn't considered to be enough by paypal. You should check out the paypal forum at the dutch ebay site.
Now is the time to order some expensive shit and not pay for it!

I think it's a great item to have on your offspring collection. I know it's a fake cd but if it have the musics to play just like the self titled, why don't to buy it? Probably the guy who's selling don't know it's fake, cause there's a nemesis logo on the back.

I was watching it on My Ebay, i didn't offer cause it's too expensive considering i live in Brazil. I think you should pay for it and keep on your collection, it's really rare and great cd design.

Heres a good way to tell if it's fake, (even though we've already established that it is), put it in an xbox with a thomson drive. If it's fake you'll get a dirty disc error, if it's real it'll play. Even though it's fake, this will tell you how much effort was put into the bootleg.
