(01/14/08) It has been confirmed that The Offspring have purchased airline tickets this week to travel to Australia to perform in this year‘s Soundwave festival. The band will travelling by air to Australia sometime in February to headline the festival, which begins in Brisbane on February 23.

“Obviously, we can‘t give out the exact details of the flight, for security reasons,“ singer Dexter Holland said. “Let‘s just say it‘s big, it‘s an airplane, it‘s taking off from Los Angeles, and it‘s gonna kick ass.“

Guitarist Noodles added, ”You can lead a horse to water, but you can‘t make him drink."

I need to notice, that Noodles said a phrase with a hidden meaning. I think it is, actually, connected with fans' complains about no news. Something like "you can tell us that we should post news and blogs more often, but we can't do it for real, if there is nothing new to write about".

I'm afraid I lol'd before I contemplated whether it was cool or not. If I had the opportunity again I'd have thought first, then lol'd.

From a financial standpoint, it makes more sense to travel overseas on a commercial passenger jet than it does to charter a private plane for the trip. A lot of big-name artists are not ashamed of going through airports with the rest of us. The only reason to charter a private plane would be for either security concerns or because the band feels that they are above the rest of us and can't be bothered with it. (Even flying first-class on a commercial plane is not for them.) Jennifer Lopez reportedly made an airliner clear out its entire first-class section for her and her entourage because she didn't want to share it with the rest of the people on the flight. If it's that much of an inconvenience for her, she should have just chartered a private plane!

And if you want to get real technical, odds are the plane is a Boeing 747. No American or Australian airline companies have Airbus A380s… yet.

I wonder what happened to Dexter's Cessna Citation jet, i mean if he's not using it maybe he should just give it away to me, i totally wanna fly in one of these planes, i'm sick of the little cessna 150

Small plane. Wouldn't make it to Sydney without having to refuel often. Longer flight as a result. And based on the route he took on his flight around the world, Dexter hates flying over open water for extended periods of time. As I said earlier, it makes more sense financially and time-wise to fly on a commercial jumbo jet than on a small private plane.

Is it just me or is Sham one of the most annoying members in bbs history?
Like, it's not that he's that retarded, or can't spell like most of the annoying members, but my God, every one of his posts makes my skin crawl.

Anyway, that's pretty nice. I hope they world tour when the new albums out.

I hope it'll be possible to meet them at the signing tents....but they're probably for smaller bands.....It would be mind blowing to actually meet them!
I hope they get here safely! : D

I couldn't see that anyone had posted this line.

"Next week: The Offspring prepare to pack for trip to Australia."

That cracks me up more than anything :p.

Yeah, I noticed that too....I picture them all there after just finishing packing their things, nodding and looking awkwardly around the room.... "Soooo.....Australia.." Dexter looks at his watch and sighs.
And more nodding ensues.

Hehehehhee......
