When I talk about The Offspring, people react by saying: "Ow yeah, that's that band doing Pretty Fly or Self Esteem or All I Want". What do you think that makes those songs more popular than the most recent stuff from COO or Splinter? I think saying those songs are just better or more catchy can't the only reason. I myself think The Noose is olso very good (guitars, drums), but nobody knows that song (unless you're a Offspring-fan off course). There's no clip of it, I know, but nevertheless... So what's your opinion about it? Why do you think songs from Smach, Ixnay and Americana (most of the songs they play on tour are from these albums) are well-known and others aren't? And do you think they will ever make another song that will be really famous, also for those who aren't really into The Offspring? It's not the same question as asking if their next album will be good. I kinda liked Splinter a lot, even though it's got no "classic songs" on it...

Cause songs as Pretty Fly and Self Esteem was really big hits, therefore people remembers those songs. And yeah i think or hope that they will get a new big hit on their new album.

Because Smash, Ixnay and Americana sold a lot more and all the songs you mentioned where singles. It's pretty much common sense.

It's the same as asking why everyone likes Love Like Winter by Afi but have never heard of Wester or Battled.

PilZ-E is correct.

Dexterwannabe: what's you reasoning behind that?

those albums were released when there was more of a "punk" scene in the mainstream before all the "pop punk" stuff.

when bands like blink 182 were at the height of their career, sum 41 had their breakthrough, new found glory and good charlotte to name others. conspiracy of one came out around this time and maybe got slightly overlooked due to the more commercial other bands.

the singles listed kinda had that sing along feel to them, original prankster and hit that just lacked the same vibe as the others!

they're old, fat and out of time. they're in a grey area where they to cheesy to be called punk and to lame to be aired at MTV etc.

Plus The general consensus is that everyone likes pretty fly for a white guy. Even "Chavs". So it's a widely appreciated song, not just by those who listen to similar music.

Hey, what up?:)
When people hear about Offspring, they imagine Americana most of the time. Trust me! But I know people that remember the Smash times, so I guess you really donīt need other peopleīs opinions to enjoy Offspring music. Just pick from those 7 albums or listen to greatest hits. :D
