I'm making a walking to work mixtape. I don't like techno music or underground hip hop and I'm not really into chick rock or like, natasha beddingfield and feist but I dig chick pop like uh, the spice girls. go for the gold!
(if you reccommend something that you have to struggle to enjoy like iron and wine or the grateful dead to gloat about your discriminating taste in music I'm gonna hairflip you. )

Excellent choice. I played this at a party the other night and it was quite successful.
Another choice: "Love at First Sight" by Kylie Minogue.
I'm a bitch :(

"Celebrity Skin" by Hole. Courtney Love may suck at everything else, but goddamn this is a good song.

As long as we're not going obscure, I'd suggest Everlong by Foo Fighters. Or Learn to Fly. I've been listening to them a lot recently.

Last night I saw the Boss in Vancouver and he blew my mind.
My personal highlight of the show was when he played "Because the Night" which he co-wrote with Patti Smith. So, to recommend something undeniably good:
Patti Smith - Because the Night
I could recommend a million.

I thought the songs should be somewhat well known. Instead of mostly unheard of... or at least the artists.

I don't keep listening to it again and again... could be quite crappy to listen to it nonstop... but, different people, different tastes of music, right?

I don't recall seeing anything about the artists or songs needing to be relatively well known. Just not ridiculously different or something you need to be pretentious to listen to.
So Cali, be honest, how many did you actually download?

okay so I went back to this thread for immediate mixtape assistance and listened to most of the songs on youtube (the obscure ones I hadn't heard), and holy fucking shit did most of them suck balls!
hexcuse me, OF MONTREAL, that is not undeniably good! that takes training and conditioning to enjoy. songs like "enjoy the silence" (good on ya magdalena) you like the first time you hear and they get stuck on your head and you sing them in the shower and it doesn't give you muscle tension to listen to them. songs like "so let's go" make you want to majorly externalize, unless maybe you saw it live or listened to it 4000 times and accidentally liked it the 3000th.
but then again, I'm a woman of simple tastes and I like music to be structured and put together and full bodied, like I couldn't hear it in the train station from someone depressed and on too many drugs. so thank you all of you for your help any old hoo. :]

Hi, Please listen to Thin Lizzy's Dancing in The Moonlight. I'm honestly starting to think it's the closest thing to the most listenable/catchy song ever...I dare you to listen and not get that bassline in your head.
