Yes, I've had it. Wasn't fun at the time, but I'm so glad I did it. It really turned my life around.

I have, but I thought I was all ok, but they wouldn't stop ringing me to try to book me back in.

hah yes. two psychologists have tried to sort me out & both of them failed miserably. the thing is.. it's fine & peechy to talk to someone, but in the end I'll have to do the problem-solving & no one else.

yes. it helps to talk, but i think id achieve the same results talking to a tree that i would with a psychologist.

Not to mention the fact that you don't have to tell them what the true problem is, the ones I have seen tended to talk to me for a few sessions, then assume its this or that. They were way off track, but I was just curious to see how far they would get before they realised that.
In the end, I stopped going, and started working out my own problems. It's been more effective for me in the long run.

It does help if you are honest. The psychologist is there to listen and try to help you sort out your problem. Of course, in the end, you have to solve the problem yourself, but when you talk, and tell the truth, the psychologist can
ask you questions to help you solve your problem. It doesn't just happen with one session either. I did go thru it and it helped me immensely. I believe when people think it doesn't help, either they were not honest with the psycoligist, or they just didn't have a good psychologist. You have to trust and feel comfortable with the psychologist you choose in order for it to help.

hmm thats true, but some things just cant talked out. i went to councelling after a loved one passed away, and i was hoping it would help, but i found it depressed me even further.

Yeah, that's a hard one to deal with. I think in cases like that, the best help might come from your loved ones that remain. I was very young when I lost my first loved one. It did hit me hard, but I guess I was young enough to not really fully understand and get too depressed over it. They say young kids bounce back quicker than older ones, must be true?

Anyway, I gtg to work. Cya all later.

very true. not one of the psychologists I went to knew about the fact that I cut myself to shreds, took eight painkillers & drank two bottles of wine a day, hardly left the house, or that I lead a double life with the one person they tried to cure me from. they had no idea how suicidal I was. how it was the first single thing on my mind every single morning & the last thought every evening before going to sleep.

Linda makes a fair point. if you're honest about what bothers you, if you accept the fact you have a problem & are opened up for treatment.. you can only reach this, if you're fully comfortable with the one who treats you. & with all of these things combined, you can look forward to a very successful treatment. I never got to collecting all those aspects. I just knew I had problems & was desperate to get rid off them. in the end I did it myself & I must say that has been pretty successful.
