Sigh. So the band won't be on a proper tour in the US until November or December earliest? S'funny, this December will be 10 years to the month since the last time I saw the band. (I wrote a review for the tour archive and it's up! what up, chicagoooo)
So here's crossing fingers for a US tour soon. Kick it off in NYC! ;)

Yeah, I asked them they didn't seem to know exactly what and how they wanna do... they usually have like "ok in this that and this month we do this, then have a month off, then we come back do a headling tour, after that we go over to south america, then play a few radio shows in the us and finish up in...."
now it was like - you know we really haven't decided yet, we wanna see first how ...
I dunno
I'm glad I already saw them 3 times, 'cause who knows what they're planning :)

This is something I've been waiting for, you know. I came to the US April/2007
and haven't seen the band when I thought that by now I would have seen them like 5 times.
=(

I actually find European shows more enjoyable than US ones, but it might be just me.

They're much more popular overseas, amirite? I can imagine that would be a lot of fun. When I saw Green Day a couple years ago I felt more like junior punk rock mom to all the kids there. It was...weird.

Dude, I have felt like a mom at 3 of the recent concerts I've been to =\
And oddly, I'm kinda happy they won't be coming here for a while. The Smashing Pumpkins are touring in August and playing anniversary shows in November. Those tickets are all going on sale like, soon. I couldn't afford something if the Offspring were going to put theirs on sale soon too.
Besides, November/December tour dates rock. Then you can just tell your parents to buy you the tickets as a Christmas gift =).

I dunno.. I'm approaching 30 and I don't feel particularly old at their shows... I do feel fat, that bothers me more =)
But seriously..
Over here in Europe it's not like they are more popular, but I guess crowds appreciate them a bit more.. or I dunno it's different. I've been to 4 US shows there it seems much more like a well oiled machine as opposed to a punk rock show + the crowds are a bit different too.
I dunno I guess it's different, not necessarily better.

I've never felt old at an Offspring show. However, the last time I saw them I was 17 and their was a decent range of ages in the audience.
Other recent concerts, however, I think I've had like 6-10 years on the average concertgoer there =\

fuck 'em =)
I've felt old at some other shows where the average age was like 16.. but it didn't really bother me anyway...

I caught them in 2004 in NYC when it was their LAST show in the US. That was kinda cool, and I think it would be neat if they did that again.
As for such late US shows, I choose to look on the bright side and rationalize that it'll be good because they'll be ready to play even more new songs by then! (I hope)
Damn, they won't do their own headlining tour in Europe this year at all... even though they've said earlier otherwise. Earliest at the beginning of 2009 then... what is this, they won't be that topical at that time anymore.

If they tour during the school year it'll be more of a hassle to check out the show, since my uni is a couple hours away from Toronto, or even Ottawa, but i'll be going nevertheless. It’s going to be interesting to see who else is on the bill when they announce the dates.

It's been almost 3 years since I last saw them, and I feel like I'm due for another show.

For reals, when I saw them I wasn't in uni, I was a freshman in high school. And somehow got to Chicago two hours away for the show. Adventure!

Don't tell me about age...
I already felt like "mom" in 2004 when they played in Sao Paulo. I don't know how I'm going to feel now haha..
Hey Sam, that's a good idea to wait a little bit more for the shows, because as it gets close to December, we can ask for tickets as christmas gifts haha..
=D

I've never had to travel less than 6 hours for an Offspring show. The first time I could've was last weekend, but I went to another show far away, and drove back. So the drive home was only 3 hours.. shortest ever :)
If I average it out I usually FLY 3 hours for an offspring show :)

It's not the transportation, it'd be the school that i'd have to miss. I don't like missing class.

Why would you have to miss class?
