Wait... and you're saying that the Obama campaign is responsible for charges of sexism because it complimented Palin? WTF? The false sexism charges by the right were related to saying Palin was not up to the job (because the only reason people could be saying that was because she was a woman). I think the campaign's done it right - praise her, sit back and let her hang herself with her own rope.

...I need to stop posting here when I'm drunk. I think the Obama campaign has mostly done a good job, actually, I just think they missed out on an opportunity to criticize the "community organizer" line. Fortunately, that line outraged enough people that it's been ridiculed quite sufficiently in popular culture. It's still a bit ridiculous for Biden to go so far as compliment it, but whatever.

And I think that in a really weird, roundabout, unpredictable way, the initial cries of sexism had something to do with their strategy of not going after her. I think that, had the expectation been set early on for her to take some heat, just from the nature of being in the race, critical behavior towards her might have been treated like less of a big deal later. It's funny how this is all totally irrelevant now (since she's facing tons of criticism now from all directions) yet I felt the need to bring it up anyway when I was drunk. I expressed myself really poorly.

Maureen Dowd wrote a column a couple of days ago about how Obama was a pussy in the debate and should have gone after McCain more aggressively. I didn't really know what debate she was watching. I thought Obama looked better than McCain in many respects without making personal attacks.

Sometimes I still want to side with the opinion that nice-guy politics is never going to work. People like to say, hey, it got him past Hillary, but it really didn't. He was ahead early and her sleazy politics almost propelled her to an improbable comeback (remember how she won New Hampshire?) However, he's enjoying his largest leads in the polls in quite some time, so I'd love to have my doubts erased. If he and Biden perform well in the remaining debates, then I'm pretty confident he's got this in the bag. I would mention the bailout, but I seriously doubt anything could transpire that would make Obama look worse than McCain already has.

So, I think it kinda sucks that the moderator for tomorrow night clearly has some bias toward Obama. I mean, it works out in my favor, cause I'd love to see ol' Sarah get chewed up and spit out tomorrow... but at the same time, I'd like to see a real debate where, if she sounds like a moron, it's actually her fault. I dunno... I'd just think they'd pick a more neutral person as moderator.

Although i agree (i also really like Jim Lehrer, he did a great job in the presidential debate and had hoped he would be doing this one as well), i think she may hit Biden with some particularly hard questions to throw off any allegations of bias.

Nevertheless that debate should be a riot, because both Biden and Palin are prone to gaffes. Also, Palin is a half-wit. Unfortunately, i'm going to have to watch it the next day on cnn.com since it's at the same time as the Canadian English election debate.

The difference between Palin's and Biden's gaffes is that Biden's are generally because is is a straight-talker to a fault. He'll tell you exactly what is on his mind regardless of the political implications. I think that's kinda rad. Palin's are because she doesn't know anything about runnin' no country.

Cafferty is a riot. I'm looking forward to it.

What?

And you really aren't one to talk about bias on this board. (Well one, good job in realizing that posters have political opinions that they throw out there). But two, you also have a bias. Why should a politics debate forum have a non-bias? What is this strange accusation you are throwing about?

it isnt that hard to understand...you see it everyday when people are just totally out of touch with certain things because of their bias.

I agree too, but I fail to see anything ridiculous about what I said regarding Biden's "gaffes." And I wish my bias made me 'out of touch' about certain things regarding McCain/Palin. If I had been doing shots at the bar last night every time she said "nucular," I'd be in the hospital right now.

Sarah Palin's habit of turning super cutesy whenever she can't answer/doesn't want to answer a question is so transparent that I can't believe a grown person can do it and get away with it anywhere, much less on national television in a Vice Presidential debate. It's also kind of infuriating considering the feminist (or, rather, anti-feminist) implications and effects.

I expected Joe Biden to decimate her, and he kinda didn't, but I think he was still very good last night. And it's also kinda funny/extremely sad that the strongest thing the Republican party can say about last night's debate is that Palin didn't embarrass herself.

ps. Palin reminds me more of Bobby's mom on Bobby's World than anyone else. But South Carolina is definitely in the mix. I still think she's super hot, which, yes, makes me a raging hypocrite considering how upset I get over what (I feel) she does to feminism with her cutesy and malleable bullshit.

If I had been doing shots at the bar last night every time she said "nucular," I'd be in the hospital right now.

And you'd be dead twenty times over if you took even half a shot every time:

-Palin said the word "energy" (full shot if it was in response to a question that had absolutely nothing to do with energy)
-Palin out and out ignored a question and refused to answer. (full shot if Biden actually answered a question Palin ignored)
-Palin used her hockey mom voice. (you're probably dead 5 minutes in)
-Biden presented Palin with a chance to explain how the McCain/Palin administration would be different from Bush/Cheney, and she refused to even touch it.
-Palin tried to link Biden to McCain in some cute, passive-aggressive way.

Ha. Someone else had just said that to me. Seriously, is that either an Alaskan or Idahoan accent?

p.s. I'm finding it impossible to decipher that huge grinny look Biden kept giving Palin. It was almost giddy.

Exclusive First Look: The Sarah Palin Porn Flick

So the company that placed an ad on Craiglist seeking a Sarah Palin lookalike for a porn shoot? Hustler! A spokesperson for founder Larry Flynt confirms that the film has already been shot, but wouldn't release the name.

Flynt did, however, provide Radar with a copy of the script. (For what it's worth, the working title appears to be Riding Pipeline.) Here's the first scene. [CAUTION: GRAPHIC CONTENT]

Keep in mind w/ all of the Bush "Bashing"---Congress, which is mostly all Democrats, are the ones that have more say than Bush. Bush is basically a "figure" or the Speaker of Bad News for the U.S. & only has little power of Veto. He cannot make most of the decisions....Congress will always have the FINAL SAY!!! So let's think about TRUE POLITICS when we talk about all of the BAD things BUSH has done!!

Democrats are even 49-49 in the senate and are given a 51-49 lead from 2 independents that caucus with them. If the president vetoes a bill, both houses have to override it with two thirds majority. How is that "little power", and how does congress get the last word?

I've been checking out Biden & Palin, isn't everyone in America just jumping straight on the Obama ticket just to keep this batshit insane wench from the most poweful position in the world???

Honestly, McCain is fucking old, he wont last a theoretical two terms, if even one, seriously a vote for him is effectively a vote for Palin which puts Palin, someone I can only describe as politically retarted, in the Whitehouse. Aren't you people fucking terrified?

During his NAACP speech earlier this month, Sen. Obama repeated the term at least four times. "I've been working my entire adult life to help build an America where economic justice is being served," he said at the group's 99th annual convention in Cincinnati.

And as president, "we'll ensure that economic justice is served," he asserted. "That's what this election is about."
__________________________________________________ _______
In his latest memoir he shares that he'd like to "recast" the welfare net that FDR and LBJ cast while rolling back what he derisively calls the "winner-take-all" market economy that Ronald Reagan reignited (with record gains in living standards for all).
__________________________________________________ ______

A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to age 18 — a man he cryptically refers to as "Frank" — was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

__________________________________________________ ________

According to the Associated Press story, Senator Obama gave the little girl a brief explanation of his plan for universal health insurance coverage and improved education. Then he explained his view that the wealthy should pay the expenses of people who are not wealthy:

"We've got to make sure that people who have more money help the people who have less money," Sen. Obama said. "If you had a whole pizza, and your friend had no pizza, would you give him a slice?"

I don't have to disprove your stupid claim because it's stupid.

Calling Obama a socialist requires two things of you
1. Having absolutely no idea what a socialist is
2. Being an idiot.

His healthcare plan functions on the same basis that the progressive income tax does. It's not socialist, all western countries (or almost all) tax that way. And most redistribute healthcare that way without being socialist.

His past associations aren't relevant and are not proof of anything.

Economic justice is an ambiguous term, you're reading what you want to read in it. It doesn't mean anything.

So you are claiming that FDR and LBJ are socialists? Seriously?

You want to prove he's a socialist? Find something substantial, not moronic loose associations to things that are vaguely communist if you squint your eyes and are illiterate. For example if Obama said "I want to remove the bourgeoisie from power and institute a dictatorship of the proletariat" well then, I'd look pretty stupid. If Obama said "I want to get rid of the market-economy and create a planned economy" you'd be on to something.

But you've got nothing but an inability to critically view information that is put in front of you.

XYlophonetreeZ

Moose, have you ever once in your sad life attempted to look up your information from a neutral source? It's common sense that you can't learn anything if you only pay attention to sources that are already perfectly aligned with your own radical views. Come on.
