i have The Offspring Americana shirt (the on with the kid and the cockroach on the front) that i got about 3-4 years ago. when up until last month when ever i wore the shirt about 3 people told me how cool the band was total in those three years. now whenever i were it i get at least 3 people evrytime telling me how much they like the offspring. its pretty cool to see them grow like that right in front of my eyes.

I think a lot of it has to do with the new album. It may not have sold all that well compared to others, but their popularity has exploded in a lot of areas. Even my friend Kt likes them now. She couldn't really get into them before, but Hammerhead really got her attention.
EDIT: The same has been happening to me. All of a sudden, everyone around me actually knows who they are, WITHOUT having to mention Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)

Haha, no such luck for me yet. Actually, when I met my drummer, he'd had most of the albums, even Splinter.

My roommate happened to be a pretty big fan. She tried to go to the show, but couldn't. And every time I've mentioned the show (before or after going), I've only gotten a "who?" a few times! CRAZY!

ive only ever had one person comment on an offspring shirt i was wearing just after splinter was released and he wasnt aware that they had a new album or that ron had left! but anyway, its nice to hear that others like them as well although id be unlikely to strike up a conversation with someone over their choice of shirt!

That's awesome! Unfortunately whenever I wear one of my many Offspring shirts no one ever comments or I just get really weird looks most of the time. Seems most people around my city are either really old or young teenagers. I don't even know if anyone around here even knows who they are.

When I go on concert for example of polish bands there's always someone in Offspring T-shirt. But I don't feel like someone pays attention when I wear Offspring T-shirts.

Hahah, yeah, of course. :D
Well, some of my friends know about The Offspring, so they're not unknown.

exactly
everyone around me know who they are :D
It's weird how no one knew about them when Splinter was released. Hit That reached #1 on the charts, IIRC, and Head Around You cracked the Top 5 I'm pretty sure. It debuted at double RaF,RaG's album sales in a single week, and it was certified Gold two months after it's release. Did everyone who bought that album die immediately after or something?
also when Im wearing my shirt noone coments it. only when it was new and my friends were jealous:D
but last year I was wearing one of my offspring shirts at least twice a week and at the end of the year, one teacher asked us what we are going to do during holidays and I said that Im going to see the Offspring and he was surprised that Im theirs fan... and then starts to talk about Self esteem from their first album- that he remembers it and how good song it is... then I told him its from their third album and he was surprised even more... but at least he knew that they exist:)

The common people (not us, who are so special :D) don't know about the self titled and Ignition.
I don't blame them. Not even in the GH there are some songs from those albums.
I know a lot of people who refer to them as the "Come Out & Play (or Self Esteem) band". Strange huh?

I think that's because those are 2 of their most played songs and most liked songs of all time.

Well, today I just found out tons of people in my school liked the offspring. We tend to have music in school and today I decided I should put TheOffspring playing (cos I never decide what goes on the stereo, I'm too lazy for that) and there were at least 20 kids that stopped to listen to the song. I didn't even know one of my friends had two albums from them and when she told me I was like "WTF you like them?". About wearing offspring t'shirts and get people to notice it, well, doesn't happen that much but sometimes I hear people singing to self esteem or to our dearly beloved pretty fly behind me and when they look at the t'shirt.

If somebody did that to me I would insist on becoming their friend, and they would have no choice but to comply. If it were Pretty Fly it would depend on other factors though.

Here in my city, Culiacán, Sinaloa. In Mexico. whenever i wear an offspring t-shirt, there's always people who tell me that they like the band, and I think sometime's funny cuz when I notice that someone is watching my t-shirt, they come to me and ask me about the band, it's good to know that even when the offspring are from the 90's (when they hit it big), a lot of people actually remember them by self esteem or come out and play =)

For some reason, I am always surprised people know the band or like the band. When my boyfriend first found out I moderated this board he was like, "ah, the Offspring are pretty cool....my favorite song is *Amazed*". I was pretty shocked. Like, he knew the band and that song? Wow. He always says to me, "why do you think people don't know them? lots of people know them, they're still pretty popular."
For some reason, it's like their my own little discovery. *shrug.* i was listening to some alternative music tv station the other night with my mens and they played YGGFK and i was so shocked....haha.

Same with me, although this is kind of surprising, when the band has sold like 30+ million albums. I do find that once i have a bit of a conversation with someone (well, at least say 16 years old, or older) they know the band. And usually speak quite favorably of either Smash, Ixnay or Americana.

I haven't been commented on a shirt yet :(
well the only comment if this counts was at the end of soundwave, I got my phone to my ear talking to my mate and im waving my other hand in the air so she can see me, and this guy runs up to me and yells 'Offspring, FUCK YEAH!' and high fives the hand i was waving. Hahaha
Most of my mates had heard of them, and a few of them say that americana was the first CD they ever bought. I do ruotine checks on people's ipods and make sure they have atleast a couple of Offspring songs on there or else i tell them off.
