ive noticed some people who criticize the offspring for changing their style from smash or w/e.. but ive also seen some that complain when one song is too much like another. which is the lesser of the two evils for lack of better words? just wanted some opinions..

I see the same thing too, but you know everyone has their own opinion. I personally love everything the Offspring has done. To me it doesn't matter if one song sounds the same, or if they sound different now. They are still a great band!

It's a problem that every band has. They don't want to remake a hit album, 'cause by then it'll be repetitive and boring, but if they make too radical a change then they alienate their fan base.

so why can't the cynics just shutup? if they're real fans they should trust the band to do what they think they should do. and atleast offspring's change wasn't radical.. it slowly developed from album to album

Because it would be boring as shit if everyone quietly respected the artistic decisions of musicians. Quite often, bands do make terrible decisions in regards to changing music, and often they also continue to produce the same sound. There will always be a group complaining of one or the other, it's what music is.
