Bootlegging!

Hello Boards!
I think of getting one of those Sony recorders to bootleg concerts, but I'd like some advice on products and recording "methods".

For instance, when I get it and bring it to a concert, should I always hold it or just leave it on the floor or something?
Is the sound quality decent enough?
