View Full Version : Old People Who Can't Hear Good.

And yet who always manage to complain about the noise you're making.
You can't have a conversation with them without repeating yourself over and over, but try and walk around your place after midnight and the wrath of God falls upon you.
I hate these people.
Who are your favorite members of society, and why?
Alcoholics who teach their kids the evilness of alcohol but keep drinking themselves.
(I could have found a better example than this... but you all know it's about hypocrisy)

Actually the original post was more about irony.
This thread should be all about how much old people suck. Because they really suck so much. Even when it's not really their fault. The downside to the progression of modern medicine is that there's going to be more and more of them all the time. It's going to be a nightmare. Before long they won't all fit in Perkins, and other previously acceptable breakfast spots will begin to show the taint. We'll have to go to grocery stores in the middle of the night. We'll need degrees to be Walmart greeters. Feel like taking a drive on a Sunday morning? Better get a tank.
Viagra is to blame. We've had the ability to keep them alive for a while. Now we've given them all a reason to want to stay alive. We're fucked.

Oh right. Actually I wanted to make a more humorous post but then I decided to post this. I should go to bed.

Common casual music listeners who claim to have a good taste and understanding of music while keep consuming all possible shit from TV and radio. I'm sure that everyone knows who I'm talking about.

Old people who smell. Urgh. I understand they want to be thrifty, but seriously, a little bit of washing never broke anyones bank.
About the deaf thing, I think a lot of deaf people hear uncoherent noise more clear than other sounds. My dad is deaf on one ear, if you talk to him and there's more noise around you have to be on the side of the working ear, or else he won't hear you. Yes he hears things that would normally just background sounds very loud. I once dropped a bowl on the carpet, which hardly made any sound at all, and it nearly gave him a heart attack.
I hate Jehovah's Witnesses.
my dad opened the door to them once while mom was in the bath tub...
she yelled "TELL EM' WE DONT WANT ANY!!!!!":D

i generally find that there are two kinds of old people. The first kind sucks. they're old, bitter, they don't tip and are the most demanding customers ever. the other half is awesome, they'll drink and run up a 50 dollar tab and then tip me like 15$. also they'll joke around with me, those old people are awesome.
generally i hate people my own age. or more specifically slightly younger. they refuse to tip and they come into my restaurant always stoned, wanting many among a many refills on their pitchers of pop, also they don't tip, i mentioned that right? so i refuse to give them more than one glass of pop.
i also hate middle aged women who order drinks in their social settings, the kind where they order one margarita or long island iced tea, and they all have an annoying laugh about getting sooo messed up. hey atleast they're staying young. they also ask what kind of margaritas we have. which is fucking annoying. "what flavors of margarita do you have? "gee i donno, i think we have peppermint, ranch, and chocolate flavored margaritas, NO PICK A FUCKING FRUIT."

My hearing is getting a little worse :[
I have to ask people to repeat things an awkward number of times once in a while. Mostly my girlfriend I think... maybe she's just been talking quietly.

No, irony is when you take off your shoe expecting to see a foot and it is a hand!
Ugh, musical ignorance. I know it sounds snobbish as shit but I hate when someone is extremely opinionated on a genre or band but know nothing about it. I had a kid tell me that Afi are the whiniest, emo band he has ever heard. But apparently he likes Miss Murder, then he went on to say the only other song he had heard was Love Like Winter or something. Basically when people are like 'oh, i listen to EVERAYTHANG' and you know they only listen to chart music.
Though, I guess that can be applied to any topic, not just music.
Oh, and my Media Tech teacher. Holy shit. The first day he repeatedly claimed 'I DO NOT WANT TO REPEAT MYSELF'. The worse part about this is he constantly fucking repeats himself. Like, people won't even ask a question and he'll just keep saying the same thing over and over.

I have the same problem.
And like Tizz sort of said, I have great hearing when it comes to just noticing noise. I just sometimes have difficulty filtering out the parts I don't want to hear, which gets in the way of what I do want to hear.
And I should also admit that some old people are indeed awesome.

Apparently their is a condition where you essentially hear everything at the same level and give all sounds the same priority.
You can't really distinguish the difference between someone talking to you and a radio in the background. Seems like a horrible condition to have.

Yeah, I can easily imagine how horrible that would be, since I struggle with it a little bit.
I also envy people who can ignore all sounds around them and stay focussed on their thoughts or the book they are reading. I can't. Any noise will grab my attention forcefully.
I generally have to sleep with a fan on all year round so I can focus on the constant sound. Otherwise any random sound will grab my attention and prevent sleep. But a nice constant sound like that of a fan is easy for me to ignore and blocks out most of that other crap.

heh old people ... shit... if the supermarket opens they are all running to have the first bread
and when they're on your bus they keep staring or talking at you till you get up and give them your seat
but what I hate most of all is from those total preppy Barbie-bitches
they're too scared to walk somewhere when it's nasty weather cause they're to afraid to get one little spot on their shoes, btw how the hell can they walk with those shoes?

How do you call the thing that hard-of-hearing elderlies will apply to their ears to hear better? (I'm not talking about hearing aids, but of that last-century implement, like a tannoy in shape)
This reminds me of a monologue Ellen Degeneres had about one of her mom's friends complaining that she doesnt speak proper English. Hate to say it, but it's "who can't hear well" ;P
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=oqA70M0_HL0
(not so funny the second time you hear it apparently...hmm)
(Ironically I always forget if it's "to be reminded of" or "reminded on". sux2bme.)
On subject: I feel like I'm slightly deaf since I work. I work on planes so numerous take-offs and landings a day can be a real pain in the...eh, ear. And have a irreversible effect on me. =(
