Personally, I think it's one of their best songs, I love the riff, lyrics, chorus, everything, the first time I heard it, I knew it was one of the most fast-dark songs, I love it =)
It's an awesome song, it's just too bad that it's in the shadow of the greatness of Nothing From Something which is possibly one of the best songs from the band vocal-wise.

I've always thought The Offspring should remake it, it's just an awesome some, I love the opening riff and the 'woah' bit and also like all the songs on Ignition it has great lyrics, and its got so much mroe potential. A remake would be awesome, beef it up a little, maybe double the length of the opening riff, add a few extra guys for the 'woahs' and with an updated sound it would fucking rock.
It's an awesome song, it's just too bad that it's in the shadow of the greatness of Nothing From Something which is possibly one of the best songs from the band vocal-wise.
Nothing From Something is the best song on the album, man I wish they played this live.

What?
I personally take Forever and the Day as the 6th best song ever. After Crossroads, Kick Him When He's Down, Tehran, Nothing from Something and Genocide. The only thing that annoys me about the song is the fadeout at the end, which is absolutely unnecessary, cause the song ends (I mean there is the finishing riff at the end, not just repeating the verses over and over).

I absolutely love the entire album but have to agree with Budzy about this. It is really a pity that their first two albums don't get much play these days.

It sounds like Dexter's vocals are quieter and have less presence in this song. That always bothered me. Ignition and Smash are both shitty recordings, it's a good thing they that at least remastered them. Also, Ron sounds really tired in this recording. But I do think the song itself is in the top 10 best songs they've ever written.
Yeah, what bighead said. I think I could love Forever and a Day way more if it was a better recording with louder vocals. But still, it's in the shadows of Nothing From Something, which is one of my favourite Offspring songs.

I don't hear no real difference. It's supposed to be a bit louder and have a little more treble, but it's no major difference.

Ignition is my favourite Offspring album, but the last two songs are the ones I like the least. They're good songs, but just not as good as the others on the album. While the first 10 songs are scoring 5/5 for me, the two last are scoring 4/5. Would love to hear any of the songs from that album live any how :)

"Nothing from Something" is one of my favorite Offspring songs, and for me, "Forever and a Day" still stands out following it. I can't even explain what it is I love so much about it. It's fairly standard in style and structure to most Offy songs, but I just get a different feeling from it. A feeling of coldness. The same Goes with "Not the One". Anyone who has played the Ice Cap Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will know what I'm talking about.

Same here. But Kick Him is my all time favourite song ever. FAAD is in my top 5 on that album though.
1565 on vocals? Wow I gotta hear that, I've no idea what she sounds like.
I always like that song as every track in Ignitation.
I think that's close to "elders".
I like that stubbornity andf self-sufficiency. Like hell no, i don't need simple answers and your truth i'm gonna find my own...

They would NEVER play this song live. It just wouldn't fucking happen. I don't understand why they feel the need to play all their songs that were Billboard hits. I mean, let's be real here: they KNOW what the fan favorites are at this point in their career. Am I wrong to suggest that more Offspring fans want to hear some old classics as opposed to minor pop hits like Want You Bad and Why Don't You Get A Job? They should cut out one or two of their hits to make room for fan favorites.

They do; that's why the setlist is the way it is today. The average fan just isn't into anything pre Smash. Hell, i mean they played Lightening Rod at Soundwave in 07, and apparently the crowd just wasn't into it; they want to hear the popular stuff.
Perhaps its best to see what the RAFRAG tour setlist will be, before we get too excited. It's not out of the question that they may throw in the odd oddity like they did during the 05 warped tour.
And correct me if i'm wrong, but have you even seen the band live? I mean, it seems a bit silly to complain if you haven't?

I haven't seen them live, but I've seen a whole shit load of set lists from the earlier RAFRAG shows, and pretty much all of them had too many of their minor pop hits.

Bighead, As much as I would love for the band to play this song at a show, it totally kills the energy of the room when there's a song that only the most hardcore fans really know. I think people also made this same comment about the MySpace secret show at that club whose name I'm forgetting -- they busted out a song from the first record and people were into it, but at a much lower level than they were for, say, "Genocide." Don't hate on the band for it, dude -- hate that more people don't know this awesome freaking song.

I don't feel like arguing this point for point, but I gotta say if they did set lists like the ones they did at Warped Tour, except longer, I'd be happy. I guess they figure there's a more "alternative" crowd there, so they'll play lesser known stuff.

That's a good point -- the crowd at Warped is going to be a little more punk rock than the crowd at a lot of the festivals they've been playing. Who knows, though, they have to do their own tour sometime -- maybe it'll be different then. Dunno.
I feel like if you'd ever been in a band, you would have an easier time getting where they're coming from.
