Hey guys, especially Noodles or Dexter we want some information about the new album. I know, that is little soon, but I would like to know the basic information about the new album.
For example:
1.Will be there pass me by or re-recording dirty magic?
2.Will be the new album more heavier or something like Rise and fall, rage and grace album.

thank you for everything, you rocks!

I really doubt they can answer questions about it yet... they haven't even started recording or anything. You have to first write songs, record them, and decide which ones you'll put on the album before you can say what kind of album it will be.

Anyway, I do hope it comes out next year... that'd be fab.

All I can tell you so far that they will probably re-record some leftovers from the past albums (CO1, Splinter, RAFRAG)... that might be good news, and the overly-worshipped intro riff of Pass Me By might actually be finally recorded as a full song.

They know that we want to know, unless they're stupid. Why are you calling them stupid? Do you really think that they're stupid?

Why is it that every time there is talk about a new album, the same song surface again. When the new album is released, I would prefer new material and not a re-recording of anything.

It's going to take a while to figure out what the next Offspring album would sound like and stuff. Noodles said earlier this year that the band was going to start recording around January 2010, let's hope that happens.

Technically you're right, but he said the next album will include only some songs that were never on Conspiracy of One, Splinter and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. He never said it will include the re-recording of "Dirty Magic".

Exactly ... plus we have heard most of the re-recordings already.

Hmm...I dunno about that. I love "A Lot Like Me"! :p Though it's the only ballady type song on the album that I like. I think the new album will be harsher than RAFRAG. The fact they're looking at past songs/ideas that didnt make past albums, and seeing if they can flesh them out, makes me think the new album will be more upfront than RAFRAG...but who knows, we'll just have to wait and see!

I personally think that the Offspring is fully capable of pulling off truly awesome slower/ballady songs like A Lot Like Me, Denial Revisited... even Gone Away, Vultures, and Dirty Magic are much slower songs. But I honestly can't stand Kristy, and Fix You is pretty "meh" for me. So I'm not opposed to them doing these slower songs (and piano can be great if used right), but I hope that, if they include any, they make sure they only include awesome ones, and not just the "trying something different" ones.

Hopefully seen as they're looking back at older stuff, it migh be a more raw sounding album...and I would prefer there's not stuff like "fix you" on it... I mean, it was a grand song, but I'd rather something....bettter. Yes.

Pretty much agree with all the points here. "A Lot Like Me" is an awesome song, and shows that The Offspring can completely change style, and still sound great. "Kristy" and "Fix You", I cant listen to without cringing. The album definitely could have done without them. For me, there are only about 5 truly great songs on RAFRAG, and the rest are complete filler. But I have no qualms with them writing more ballady/piano based tracks if they're all of the quality of "A Lot Like Me"!

Just as long as it's as good as the others.

I would love to see a rawer punkier offspring (e.g. Offspring of Smash) but I think those days are long gone. I'll be pissed if they don't get a new cd out by the end of 2010... Well we will see my friends!

I'm more than happy with RAFRAG, I was dissapointed with Splinter.
RAFRAG is absolutely amazing imo.
Anyway I hope to have some songs with harder style in the new album! -just like Smash era!

Hm, there was a thread somewhere around here where was a interview with Noodles, and he said there that they have some leftovers from those albums and that they want to spend some time with them again, or something. The Pass Me By thing is just something I deducted from that. I wanted just to give info, not make a wish.

If you're deducting anything, you're making a wish. Please mention that there was an interview with Noodles that said something when you're sharing that sort of info. I just really want to avoid all the crystal-ball predictions that happened here with the leadup to RFRG. They confused a lot of people.

When have The Offspring EVER conveyed that message? What makes you so sure of this?

Also, if they did take this route, I'd be pretty disappointed. There's too much of that garbage out there as it is.

The next album is probably going to be very diversified. Since they're looking back at songs they never finished on other albums, we might have many different styles coming.

It seems like they have gotten on a roll lately. I've seen/heard of lots of interviews where they mention planning to record and reviving old material. Sounds like they are ready to keep the music flowing. Besides, they wouldn't want to let all the RAFRAG hype die down (haven't I said that a gazillion times?)

I'm not holding my breath though... just cause... you know, I need air...

Ryder1234
11-18-2009, 08:13 PM
Yeah, RAFRAG got a fair bit of hype, but not as much as it could have, in my opinion. If it had been released closer to Splinter it'd probably would have. I think releasing it closer to RAFRAG this time around is necessary.

There probably isn't any info to give out at the moment, sadly, even from the band themselves. The won't have any idea how it'll turn out at this point in the process, so I guess all they can and have said is how they're gonna explore old material.

I'm pretty sure, contrary to what people are saying about them re-recording old material, that they're only gonna look at like, riffs and stuff and melodies from old scraps. We all know they don't like using previously completed materials, didn't they said they thought it was cheating?

the original version of dirty magic is perfect i don't see why someone would want a rerecord or redo of it. as for the new album all i can say is i'm really excited, and i'm glad they're using songs that were cut from older albums, because usually bands just leave cut songs to die and no one ever hears them.

I think that (cheating) was in reference to rerecording already released songs as new ones, like Dirty Magic. That being said, I don't think anyone is expecting a final recording of any previously completed demos. I think its pretty obvious that they wouldn't do that since they scrapped it in the first place. I know the Used looks back at old material a lot and basically their process with those songs is to find why it didn't work before and then break it down to see if they can make it work.
