Not really.
I mean, maybe I like them. I just don't listen to them any more.

I'll play a CD once a year, don't care for any of their new music at all though.

I always find it funny when people feel the need to differentiate between the new and old stuff. The band has barely grown or changed one bit since 1997, and all of a sudden there's this gap. It's absolutely ridiculous.
No offense to any one specific person at all, but it makes me laugh.
Anyway, The Offspring are still my favorite band of all time. I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but all that means is that I listen to them "often", rather than "obsessively".

Of course i still listen 2 them! maby not the new stuff, but the old stuff is hell'a good. y whoudnt i still listen to them??? , though knowing nothing new has come out good im starting 2 turn on the Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple pilots stuff now

I still like The Offspring. 2 years ago ( and before ) I was obsessed with them. I used to listen to them everyday. It's not the case anymore. They are still my favorite band, I still like them as much as I used to, I'm just not obsessed with them.

Yes, but you've got to admit Ignition, does not sound the same as Splinter, and The Offspring, sounds nothing like any CD's they released afterwards.

This is true, which is why I mentioned the year 1997. Compare Ixnay to Americana, Co1, and Splinter, and there's hardly any difference whatsoever, yet people still act like there is.

02-17-2005, 02:26 AM
That's ridiculous. Those albums get consistently worse as you go along, and most people would agree. Americana still had some good stuff, CO1 had almost no redeeming value, and Splinter is quite possibly the worst album I have ever purchased. Every time the Offspring release something new they seem to attract an even younger fan base than the last time. Before long they'll be sampling Elmo if it sells a few more copies.

Are you talking about music in general? If so, you're more of an idiot than you make yourself seem (which would be quite a feat).

yes they still are my favo band and stuff.
/edit: but i'll understand that some feel a gap between the old and the new, i feel it a bit with stuff like original prankster. but i still love them

its funny, i cant bear to hear splinter, conspiracy of one and ixnay anymore. i think ive just listened to them far too much, (even though i dont like CO1) and its resulted in me hating them. i still listen to their other four albums every so often.

So if they make albums like ixnay and smash and ignition but new songs, but the same style you will be listening to them again? or turn into fan again?
I've over listened to them, so from today gonna go on strike no more listening for a while. I do this once ever while. But they're still my fav band. Although I don't listen to them every single day like I used to back in the day. Still no way I'd miss a gig.

That's ridiculous. Those albums get consistently worse as you go along, and most people would agree.
That's a matter of opinion for each particular song. My point is that while some people agree with you on each song, the STYLE of songs haven't changed one bit.
For every Pretty Fly there's an Original Prankster. Don't Pick It Up has it's Why Don't You Get A Job and Worst Hangover Ever. Amazed has Race Against Myself. The particular songs themselves are what people don't like, but they've been the same kindsof songs forever, so that's where differentiating between the new "stuff" and the old "stuff" becomes a joke. The "stuff" is almost the same, so all this talk about their "growth" or the fact that they've "changed" is bullshit in my opinion. It's clear that the fans have grown or changed, not them, because if anything, the band is stale.

You are a moron! i dont think she or anybody else was talking about 1997, when i think of how much they changed i usually think from 1989 to 1998 the first album to americana, then i see how much they changed. BUT I STILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! MY FAVORITE BAND STILL!! AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL THE WARPED TOUR TO GO SEE THEM.
stop being so offensive to random people. it's so.. unintelligent.

I wasn't talking about her or anyone else here. I was making a general statement about many Offspring fans nowadays which just happens to be applicable in many cases on this board as well.

In that case, you're still wrong...even "wrong-er", if you will, considering several people on this board ALWAYS say that the band has changed a lot since 1997. Which is why I mentioned 1997. I didn't just pull a year out of nowhere.
Nice try though. Goodbye.

I used to listen Nikka when sahe was a kid. There's a looooooooong time i don't listen to her and didn't know she is still singing.I've heard about Fiona, but actually never listened to her songs. Thanks for the suggestion.
I've been listening to Alanis since I was 14.Her songs helped me a lot.I will always be thankful.Songs like Sympathetic character and Pollyanna Flower is exactly what I've gone thru in my life.Sorry to Myself from the Feast on scraps DVD helped me not do ruin my life.........I kinda have a history with Alanis songs...... hehehe........I dare to say that (FOR ME) Songs from Alanis, Offy (I mean some) and Greenday are alike. They talk about the same thing in differenmt ways. Human people's behavior.
PS:Sorry if someone didn't like my comparison, but their songs are part of my life and helped me understand what I was going thru when I actually didn't have anyone to help me.........

I loooove Alanis! I think a lot of people have a few artists they truly relate to, and that truly make a difference in our lives. And it's your life, and your choice of music, and you really shouldn't care what other people say about it. If it was important to you, and if it helped you, that's all that matters.
And to be on topic, I don't listen to the Offspring that much anymore, actually, I never put it on my playlists these days, but given the fact of who I'm living with (proud owner of www.theoffspring.info, with Tijs since recently), I can't avoid a bazillion of live performances, ripping videos, nananana, you name it, he does it.

You're right Izie.....Thanks for your words.....
It's great to know that at least you and Joy understand why I like Alanis.I think she just expresses what we women feel.People usually tend to think she's just a rebel or something..I'm glad you guys know what I'm talking about :D

Pff people probably judge by one-two songs they've heard. Take a whole album, and you'll see then! Then again, there's nothing wrong with being a rebel every once in a while ;) And yeah, it's a girl thing, obviously hihi
-definitely- a girl thing. *giggle*
I've cried listening to her songs, I've sung along (strange English?), I've laughed, I've screamed, I've giggled, I've danced like a maniak.... she sure can speak to my little heart too every once in a while. I was in LOVE with Jagged Little Pill (especially Not the Doctor) & my little heart broke, when I found that cd broken in it's cover. *sniff* I miss that cd. I ought to buy it again.
*sadly sings* "hello mr. Man.."
& I don't know what it is with me & Nikka Costa & Fiona Apple, but they make my hips move, they make me sing along & brighten my day. I could most definitely relate to Paper Bag. yup, still love that one. & Shadowboxer & Limp & Criminal & & &...... wiew!
oh, & a band, that contains another spicy chicka, is K's Choice. (Ken knows all about my deep K's Choice-love<3) they're from Belgium, fairly recently broke up, but I still listen to their old songs. they're easy to relate to & they say everything in their own poetic way (probably also, because anyone who hasn't English as their native tongue gets creative with English after a while). their cd Cocoon Crash is the greatest thing on earth (along with many other things). they can be angry, they can be critical, they can be sensitive & caring... oh god.. I wouldn't have survived without K's Choice & many other bands & artists.

Their music hasn't really even changed that much after "Ignition".
