first off, there are a ton of variations of grunge, soundgarden, pearl jam, and nirvana all sound nothing alike...second most grunge is a form of punk...people in seattle back in the day would kick your fucking ass if you called it grunge because it was always seen as punk...it is an evolved form or a variation of punk. and what is really cool is as i was typing this krock in ny just put a block of nirvana on my radio...thank you, they fucking kick ass.

but seriously...grunge isnt music at all? im trying to figure out what you base that on...so your going to tell me alice in chains, soundgarden, pearl jam, along with nirvana, the pixies, etc. isnt music? the brilliance of chris cornell and dave grohl mean nothing i suppose...

lets se melody, rythms, an organization of sounds...seems like music to me.

im scared to even ask about other music that isnt "punk," even though grunge's begins are from the roots of punk, but man guys like lou reed and morrissey must not even exist, let alone any of you seeing the clash as a real punk band...

now on the topic of the post, grunge is NOT punk, if it was it would have punk as part of it's name like all the sub genres of rock or metal do. and slipknot's best 'label' would be mainstream metal, meaning they'res more of a planned rythm to the drums as opposed to just beating the shit out of them, and other slight differences. besides, can you imagine the offspring doing "polly"?

before grunge had a name, it was referred to as "indie punk." among real punk/hardcore fans in the late 80's, "indie punk sucks" was a common phrase seen in magazines, clubs and all that. when nirvana and pearl jam started to take off, the phrase became "indie punk still sucks" although there were not many followers then... :rolleyes:
