Do any of you have problems copying music from your cds to iTunes?
ie. lots of skipping or blank spaces, but for only a few songs from the cd?

The songs are importing as AAC encoder.
I've tried same cds with digital correction and without. It helps with some songs but not all. Repeat copies skip and leave blank spaces at different places each time. Also, some cds the tracks overlap. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a new cd or an old one, it does it with almost all of them. Very seldom does a whole cd play back right. It's so frustrating. :(

Yeah, couldn't find anything, unless I wasn't looking in the right place.
Read errors it seems. Clean the optical drive, it may help.
Another suggestion would be to import the tracks off the CD as pure audio (wav/aiff) and then convert them into aac on the computer.

Maybe you could try a iPod or a iTunes forum. They will know better than us.

Thanks, Lars, I'll give the pure audio conversion a try!

I had a couple problems with that when I was downloading the used from the internet. Now the song freezes and just skips to the next one. On the iPod! I tried to call to iPod place, but they said I have to pay to get answers from them...because I'm out of the 90 day warrenty my ass

Hey I want an ipod aswell. No money to buy it though. Different countries have different definitions for "poor". A middle class family may be able to affor such a gift in America, England, etc. Here in Brazil its luxury most cant afford.

A cleaning disc for cd/dvd players should work on the optical drive.
Did the pure audio bit work?

The fact that you actually waisted your time to make such an incredibly useless and pathetic commentary of someone's post says alot about you. Dump your crap and lack of creativity elsewhere.

I haven't had a chance to try the pure audio yet, but when I do, I'll let you know. Thanks so much for your help!

Linda - it's never happened to me. :/ it might indeed be the cd player... in any case, good luck..

you obviously have enough money to pay for a computer and/or internet access. and most likely offspring cds. so.. shutup. you're better off than most "third world country inhabitants".

Since when is Brazil third world? It's home to at least on world city (Sao Paulo), which is a sign of its significance in the global urban system.

I've had that freezing problem too. I don't have an iPod though. But it was on some tracks that it kept freezing on. It was no problem with the other tracks from that cd. And it wasn't the first track or anything like that either. Just strange.

Yes, I've tried copying with Windows Media Player and Real Player and the songs skip even worse than with iTunes.

Not that you can read this or anything.

You know how it says in the manual that the battery lasts for 12 hours?
Well, they lie! I ran my battery dead today after only 8 hours!
JohnnyNemesis
05-26-2005, 04:37 PM
Did you keep your backlight on? Mine works really well for over 8 hours, but I notice that some people, even on the brightest days, keep their backlight on for no reason...that eats up the battery big time!
Linda

Actually, I think I accidentally fibbed earlier. Mine has hit past half life after about 5 hours or so. It's never really come close to dying on me though, which is good!

Linda, regarding the skipping problem - the other day I was waiting at the Apple store for 5 hours (ugh) and had to watch an Apple employee help a guy with the same problem as yours. You use a PC, not a Mac, right? So did he. And he copied songs from his CDs onto his iPod and they skipped.. and it was apparently due to a SOFTWARE problem of all things. They reformatted his iPod and had him delete and reinstall iTunes. And it worked. hmm..

Yeah, I use a PC. Oh God, then I would have to add all the songs back to iTunes, right? Or would they automatically add when iTunes was reinstalled?
I really love my iPod, but it sure can take alot of work sometimes. :/
Sunny

You'd have to re-add them, I'm afraid. ;/

Hopefully, but you might have to bring it to Apple and have them "restore" it.. reset all the settings and erase all the data and stuff for the effect to take place.
JohnnyNemesis
05-26-2005, 05:42 PM
Can't you reset it and format it yourself? I've bypassed that option a few times already, and it's probably real simple. The question is whether you really want to do that or not.
Sunny
05-26-2005, 05:43 PM
Well, you can with the iPod Restore program, but according to the Apple people, their software does a better job (the guy said he'd already restored and updated his iPod himself, but that didn't work for him).
so i dunno. double-you-tee-eff.
Linda

It seems like it shouldn't be the iPod tho.
The music skips when I play it from iTunes
from the computer itself. That is copied to
the iPod, so of course it would skip on the
iPod. I don't know. Computers can be so
complicated. :(
Thanks for your help, Sunny!
