"Guitar God in Training"
"This guitar should be played LOUD!"

on my old Ibanez, i ended up duct-taping it and drawing on the logo of my band, it kind of looked something like a sticker, but i have a gibson les paul now, so i dont think im goin to be putting any stickers on that one anytime soon

Duct-taping your instrument? Wow. Thats something new to me. Seriously.

But to be on topic, I had stickers on my old Fender P-Bass. DVS Shoe Company, Adio, and some others. But the bass got jacked and had to get a new one. No stickers on it, but me and my friend drew on the pickguard. I drew the Offspring skull and some skate logos and such. :D

NOODLES!!! :D

Yeah, I used to have an Offspring Skull on that bass's scratch plate but I didn't like it so used white spirit to get rid of it.

heh, what about duct-tape? :p

Stickers only ruins the guitar's natural beauty. Stickers and tape should just be used for fugly guitars.

I took most of mine off, I had:

Taking Back Sunday
Sum 41
NFG
AFI
Apple
Z93 (radio station)
The Offspring
Epitaph
Ronaldo

Some more, but I forgot. Now I'm in the process of duct taping it, but the Epitaph sticker is still there.

Those are kick ass Ibanezs. I have 3 guitars. A crappy ass Wal Mart guitar that I have people sign and i have a bunch of band and skate companies and other stuff on it. And I have a Squier Stratocaster, and now my current guitar is an Ibanez GIO GSA 60. I dont have any stickers on my Ibanez...god no. But i had an Auf Der Maur sticker that I got at an Offspring concert I went to on my Squier. But I Have a Zero Skateboard Company sticker on my hardshell. Thats about it.

amen. not on my RG. as far as my RX, i might put stickers on and then clear coat over the top, kinda like a decopage style, but plain stickers on the finish looks tacky IMO.

Haha! Point taken Jebus! :D

I'd never put anything on my Ibanez bass (EDA 900); heavens no. But my Ibanez guitar (RG 170) used to have a rather curious picture of Noodles on it.

Noodles I like the bass, apart from the fact you have that etnies sticker.. Whats that got to do with bass/guitar/music? It makes it look try-hard and like an advert. :/

But apart from that it looks good. Was duck taping it difficult? Explain how ya did it vaguely at least! :D

cheers - yeah, about the etnies sticker there; it was the only sticker I could find I guess :o I had an Offspring skull once but it started peeling off and stuff :(

You thinking of doing it?

I basically just got a huge roll of duct-tape (£1! from Wellsborn market, for a HUGE roll!), and then cut off (you must cut it not tear it because if you tear it frays and looks really bad) strips of about 10/15 cm long. And then just put them all over, criss-crossing etc. Don't use long strips of tape because it looks really bad/boring - like a long line, not all crossed over and cool.

Oh, and take off the scratch-plate if you do it! that way you can get a really neat line around it rather than trying to cut strips to the exact edge of it.

Actually, to go around the pick-ups, I just took an exacto-knife to it. :D Hahaha, damn thing's already scratched up!

Ahhh I see - I might do it on my squire once I get my new guitar or something like that.

Did you do it all by yourself? Also, did you not need to remove anything other than the scratch plate? not the pick ups? just the plate? And you just sorta did like a square round the bridge? Also does it matter if bits overlap each other like 2 layers or nout like that?

Yup by myself, took about an hour to do.

Not really, have you ever removed the scratch plate? It depends upon your guitar really, you take the scratch plate off so that you don't need to use a knife or anything to get a neat edgy - you just tape a little under where the plate will go when you put it back so that it's ontop of the edge of the tape (i hope that makes sense). Basically I didn't remove my pickups and it worked fine.

The bridge was the worst bit, but yeah, I made like a square out of four small (small so that the square wasn't introduced into the rest of the pattern) pieces of tape then just built up more tape over that (gave me a neat edge).

No, overlapping is good because it looks really random etc, and you should be able to see the outline of each layer through the top one so it looks great :D

Ohhh cool! I look forward to giving it a go then! And the duck tape goes around all the body neatly? like takes its shape easily. Sorta thing!

Also if it did go a little wrong you can take it off oui?

The guitar I use for practice/thrashing has the following :

Papa Roach : Getting Away With Murder
Alice In Chains : Sun Logo

99.9 KISW (radio station)

and I had a friend carve "Violence Abuse" into the neck.

My bass has the Sigil of the Gateway (symbol on the Necronomicon) carved into it.

We have an old tradition I'm stuck with and ill put stickers on it for sure... maybe some dt too (me and my brother used to share it) and now we got an American Fender Strat labeled under the Mexican name because it has a blemish about 1 inch back from the bridge. :( 1100 dollar guitar for 499 though :D lucky right? i wont put any stickers on our new strat... I know I'm gonna do something to make the crappy tradition look good (costs about 170).

Noodles on the Ibanez website has said:

“Duct tape is so much a part of what we musicians do on the road. Since each guitar is individually wrapped in duct tape, you’re not going to find another guitar like it. And on top of all that, it’s just an easy playing guitar that you can get a bunch of great sounds out of.” - Noodles (The Offspring)
