Which song do you think is the easiest to play on guitar/bass/whatever ?
I think Brain Stew.
Actually most of Green Day's songs aren't too hard...

umm, no. it may be easy for someone thats been playing for a while, but i think the definition of an easy bass song is sticking to the root notes of a easy chord progression

About 95% of punk music.
I'd say about 95% of ALL music that came out after 1990. There are exceptions, i.e Guns n Roses.

The easiest Offspring song, minus riffs and solos, would be Gone Away.

Alot of the most technically proficient music came after 1990. It was just the mainstream that gave guitar playing a bad rep.
Brainstew is probably the easiest song to play on guitar.

I'm having a hard time learning Tommy the Cat by Primus.
So right now, I guess that's the hardest song for me.

I learned how to play Brain Stew just by listening to it. And I've only got half a year's experience! :D

I don't know shit about bass but I just took a look at the tab and I could already tell that it will kick most bass players' ass.

I think one of the hardest songs to play on bass is Maxwell Murder by Rancid. The solo is crazy insane, especially on a bass.

Dream Theater's Dance of Eternity has the hardest bass solo I've heard.

These two songs have my favorite bass solos. Dave LaRue is the bass player.
John Petrucci - Lost Withou You (the solo starts at the 3 minute mark)

John Petrucci - Damage Control (the solo starts at the 5:25 mark)

Victor Wooten's Classical Thump is an amazing four minute bass solo. This song is just incredible.

That was freaken amazing. A classicaly influenced bass solo isn't something you hear everday.
If you have the time, check out these two bass videos I have. The first one is this aweseome Billy Sheehan solo. Note that long sustained harmonic at the end. I didn't realise that was possible with a bass. The second one is this bass and guitar battle with Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert.

Didn't all the rhythm guitarists in the world (and some others like Kurt Cobain) prove without much doubt that the best guitars are simple and memorably effective, so as to provide a non-chaotic canvas for the Lead guitarist and/or the lyrics to stand out... ? I mean we all remember and love the riffs don't we... ? Even if it is dissapointing when you learn to play Sanitarium and it's just so easy that you want to tear down your posters and take away all there 'GOD' titles... but really, it still sounds as good? Even if the illusion of complexity is gone.
Music isn't JUST about the guitarist wanking all over us you know...
woah tommy teh cat and maxwell murder, i can play them - just, i can't play classical thump however, victor wooten is such a champ. all hail vic.
